Weird, I don't recall being able to build in Bunker Hill after doing that quest. Maybe I need to finish the Battle first

So I'm working on what I hope to be a survivor build I play for a long time. I went a little bit (very) crazy and planned out the stats and perks up to level 50.

    Starting special: S5,P4,E7,C3,I4,A3,L2
    Ending special: S7,P6,E10,C6,I5,A6,L3
Perks I'm planning on mastering: Lone wanderer, life giver, sneak, scrounger, strong back, armorer, night person, local leader, action boy, moving target, solar powered, and aquaboy. Also 1 in hacker, locksmith, and medic, and 2 in cap collector (for settlements).

So I'm coming here for help putting meat on these bones. I'm leaning towards equipment that boosts special stats, maybe the champion equipment or something like that. Not really sure what weapons to focus on at all. Anyone have any thoughts what weapons to go for when you're not taking any specialization or crafting perks? And input on armor would be cool too, anything stay boosting out there that you think would work with the above?

You have a pretty balanced spread, so weapon choice is open. Most of us have been picking one to really focus on at first (like take rifleman, for example and stick with it). That allows you to put perk points elsewhere. One of the most powerful guns in the game, and one I'm using a bit now is the Deliverer. Obviously, you have to do a few RR quests, and if you're not taking gun nut, a few more to get it modded. But the low recoil, high rate of fire, built in silencer, acceptable damage output and easily available ammo make it a great choice. I was able to get it at level 20.

For rifles, I would look at Arturo's Old Faithful. It's a pistol, but you can put a stock on it. The "instigating" (double damage to foes with full health) Legendary effect is OP.  I could afford it by level 8 or 9.

For Armor - depends. Remember, you're going to get a lot of legendary armor drops. I already have 4 out of 5 pieces with either SHARP or LUCKY effects. You can def save up and buy some Champions or Black Ops. But, don't overlook the legendary drops.

Lastly, good ole ballistic weave on Dirty Army Fatigues is another way to boost protection.

I mainly stick with rifles, with pistols and knives as close to mid range weapons

And this is why I came here. Old Faithful is perfect! I was thinking it may be tough to afford good weapons and good armor. You make a solid point about the legendary drops, sounds like the smart move would be work with the armor I find, target the weapons on sale that I want. Old Faithful's perk matches perfectly with what I'm going for, I completely overlooked it. I love Deliverer with my other builds, you can mod it to pack a serious punch. I have to admit I have yet to make it to the church on survivor, though. Supermutants scare me. Maybe I'll come from the north instead of through the city. Thank you for the input though, exactly what I was looking for!

Awesome. Yeah with a grape mentat you can score ole faithful for about 1k I think. Def doable. The only issue you run into is later in the game, you'd need science or another acquired laser rifle to really upgrade it.

I'm taking a very "live off the land" approach to this build, I'm curious to see how it works out late game. Fingers crossed I find some good upgrades

So today I realized survival mode was a thing on consoles, and I was wondering how viable if at all melee and unarmed were with the new difficulties. Anyone dared to use those offensive skills, even as a backup?

You'd have to pretty much take sneak/blitz from the start to even have a chance. Which means maxing out agility. I haven't tried. But I know you can't just soak up bullets running to close distance. The Fudge Muppets survival post used a mix of sneak sniper and pickmans blade... Seem to work but early going it's going to be a lot of deaths trying for only melee :)
