  • About Me I am a former soldier of the US Army. I have had a long history in gaming (like many of the people here, Im sure), Star Control, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Might and Magic are some of my favorite series. I have been playing Bethesda's open world games since Elder Scrolls Arena, and I've loved them since at least Daggerfall. I didn't particularly like the Fallout games before Bethesda got ahold of them, but since then, they have consistently hit my top 10 favorite games. Fallout 4 is probably my number 1 favorite right now.

Just a couple things to note:  Better food lasts longer for hunger, IE: A Ribeye Steak will ensure you need to eat less frequently than Grilled Radroach.  If you have cannibalism, you only need to eat 1 time every 12 hours (a corpse) to stave off hunger, with the catch being you have to eat a corpse.    And, for the saving, you would be surprised at just how often you can find a bed within a short distance of pretty much everywhere in the Commonwealth. I've noticed that with a proper sleep schedule (along with a few naps every day) and eating/drinking before "necessary", it seems to get rid of most of the afflictions like the Insomnia, and other Survival mode afflictions Not saying you should go back and play Survival, just saying.

The Elder Scrolls is an amazing series, I loved it since Arena (which was not even close to the level of greatness that the Elder Scrolls has gotten too).  The Lore alone in Elder Scrolls is probably one of the greatest things ever in gaming.  I thought so when I really started looking at the books in Oblivion and realized that there were whole books that had nothing to do with anything in game that you could just sit there and actually read.  Sometimes they had history of different parts of Tamriel, sometimes they were little novella's written by some random author in Tamriel, sometimes they were poems about Daedra, but so much that was just not a "game" item, had nothing to do with any quests, or items, or anything else like that. One of the beautiful things about something like The Elder Scrolls, is that they've crafted an entire world (or 3, if you include the Planes of Oblivion and the Aether) full of lore, rules, and settings, and they actually enjoy that people use Tamriel and Nirn as settings for fan-written stories.    So, go for it.  Post your stories and your poems, your epics of this great world (Nirn) we all inhabit.

Mottyskills said: Ooh couple of highlights for me from these: - can only use heavy weapons when in Power Armor (always bothered me that you could run with a minigun in plain clothes)- Not using VATS (I've done one playthrough like this - highly recommend for a total different game).- "upgrade" my Companions - wondering if you also upgrade their weapons and clothes/armor? That's one thing I like to do a lot of. Like, nice corset Cait, but let's get some armor on you... - Realistic settlements - I've gone both ways with this, but in a heavy RP playthrough, I'm with you. I'm not making a perfect 5 story concrete highrise with neon lights in the post-apocolypse. I'm scraping some crappy walls together, making water and food a priority and having a few gaurds.     Oh yes, I definitely upgrade them, I mean, sure, Pipers little red outfit might be ok for slumming around DC trying to dig up dirt on the Mayor, but its hardly fitting attire for getting into a possible all out, bare-knuckeled brawl with a couple Super Mutants.    I just used the term upgrade because I couldn't think of a better one...."trade out"?  I dont know, just doesnt sound quite right for the sentiment behind the change

(Fallout 4)  I like to "upgrade" my Companions in a realistic way to my playthrough.  For Instance:  If im not focusing on any particular quest line, and focusing on the main story, then after getting Dogmeat, I transfer companionship to Codsworth, because I think its more realistic to travel around with a flame-thrower wielding robot that you trust than a dog.  and once I get to Diamond City, I transfer companionship to either Piper or Nick, since that illustrates a "better" chance of finding Shaun.  Then after "finding" Shaun becomes un-doable (because he's where he is) I usually transfer companionship to whichever companion is available from my choice of Faction.  Until Automatron.  Then I always take an automatron.
