Mara and the Ritual Stone

  Cool Vaaljorn!

  So what if the Constellations represent principles or concepts? Like how in the Warriors Charge poem the Lady seems to be femininity (Dibella?) and the Lord curiosity or adventurousness (?). Later these concepts evolve with time, the primitive stellar worship giving way to the more sophisticated veneration of gods and goddesses, much like how our own stone circles like Stonehenge became obsolete but were once the places of communal worship.

  Maybe the Ritual is a representation of the arcane mysteries but also any mysterious force. What is more mysterious than love?

  We're still just brainstorming at the moment  but we knew going into it that we were tackling a subject greater minds than my own had already dismissed.

  At best, we can state that the Ritual Stone is connected to the flowing of life energies, which would explain why it can give powers like healing and necromancy.

  As pointed out by Phil in his immaculate response a few pages back, along with what I pointed out more tersely, we can.

  There is no connection between the constellations, their Mundus stones, and the grouping of entities that the Imperials call "Divines". You have one game that lists one stone's effects that are titled after one Aedra.

  This a pattern does not make.

  I don't think we should stop though. There probably isn't a connection between Mara and The Ritual in any metaphysical sense, but what we can do is attempt to explain why people in Tamriel thought there was one.

  This is the avenue we are chasing now. If we can't link the two directly, we can maybe explain why a Stone was associated with Mara in more meaningful ways than simply sharing a common element of Restoration. We can assert this isn't the case by pointing out that The Lover should have a power called "Dibella's Kiss" but doesn't.

  Guys, back onto the stars... I'm not sure if this will be meaningful or not, but I noticed (and confirmed on google) that:

  • Projected across the sky of Sovngrade are the three constellations: the Thief, the Mage, and the Warrior. They appear in the sky exactly as they appear in the Skill menu, circling around a great ball of light.

  I shed a giggle when I learned that, and it pushed more towards the idea that Sovngarde isn't in Aetherius but Masser, the largest of the moons and what remains of Lorkhan(Shor)'s body. Masser is also red, and the aurora in Sovngarde has a distinctive red tint to it.
