Unlimited Concentration Casting

I tried doing this earlier and it didn't work.  I don't think it is directly related to a particular value but rather tied to these values and how they're applied via enchantment.

I can reliably get enchantments to work but not potions so it's either related to the subtype (alchmod vs enchantment) or, as I think may be the case, it's related to enchantments being classified as 'Constant effect' whereas potions are 'Fire and Forget' (actual terms used in the CK).  the 'Constant Effect' setting may be doing something that is causing the attribute bar to not fully deplete and thus trick the game into allowing us to cast spells.

    For example,

If you fully drain your Magicka bar while under this effect you will be left with a sliver remaining (won't completely empty) but when you try and check your characters magicka via the console it says it is completely empty.

I'm starting to think we won't be able to get this exactly figured out, it took me a long time to figure out Taper mechanics (still a few things not 100% certain) but there was at least some helpful info, with this there's nothing that I can find so far.

Might be one of those times where we have to just accept that it works without understanding why.  Stuff like that bugs me to no end.

You should see some of my Taper equations!

I firmly believe that if we teach kids subjects such as math and physics using mediums like videogames we'd be able to raise a new generation of kickass engineers and scientists.  Try and teach a teenager about Trigonometry and they'll tune you out, show them how to blow shit up in a videogame that uses equations to create spell effects and you just might grab their attention.

Same here James. If you guys can't figure this out I'll never sleep peacefully again. They'll find me with "x.4" and "Why?" scrawled all over my walls.

Just out of curiosity, none of these are applicable to Altmer, correct?

Honestly I'm not sure. If you look at one of the Vazgen posts where he is playing around with base magicka he was getting some very inconsistent results. It's probably better to steer clear of Altmer if you want to use this effect ...

It should work at some number but I can't really tell you what number is that. 156.8 worked for me as well as 255.8

Edited the OP with the combinations of potions and apparel found to work during the discussion. Was meaning to do this for ages but kept forgetting and then thought we'd lost it all when the comments vanished during the site upgrade. There are likely to be far more combinations than this, particularly combinations of multiple pieces of apparel. These could be very useful in allowing both a decent magicka pool and the unlimited concentration casting effect. If anyone finds any more let me know and I'll add them in.

I'm afraid this is a bit over my head! I have a quick question. "Potion, Draught with +20 and +20 - Achievable at lv10!" Does this mean you drink a Fortify Restoration Potion, then the Draught, then equip a +20 Fortify Magicka item, then equip another, THEN select the stone? Do you just equip the two Fortify items, drink the Potion, then the Draught, then select the stone? Thanks. I love this mechanic. Really mixes things up.

It means you need to drink potion then draught and while under the effect you equip two items with +20 magicka. The main thing we discovered here is that the effect is produced by having certain magicka values rather than anything tied to the atronach stone. It works with philter, draught, philter, atronach stone because of the +50 magicka the stone gives you but you can achieve exactly the same with a single piece of +50 jewellery instead. Oddly the same potion stack doesn't work with a +20 and a +30 for reasons we never figured out! Just to further mention that all of this only reliably works if your magicka base is 100. Make sure you never add any level up boosts to magicka if you want to use this. P.s. nice profile pic - massive tool fan here!
