An Argument for 'Unarmed Combat'

Finally James, you made a complete article on unarmed!

My first thought for a monkbuild was something of "drunken kung fu" since all the gulping if potions before fighting. Well thats just for RP reasons.

The unofficial patch is really starting to piss me of since it negates necromage benefits as well as fortify marksman buff to unarmed. You can however get mods to reverse the changes back though...

All in all, I'm one of the many that keep absorbing all the information you keep posting, and like it.

An easy +1, again. Still gotta read this post again to come up with anything relevant to comment.

PS. NOTE #4: I really like Pie, That's just disgusting James...

So I've noticed. My biggest question was whether Sun Hallowed Arrows did extra damage all the time or only from Auriel's Bow. Apparently it's the latter and only against undead :p I'm anxious to see what you're working on though! :D

I feel my talents are best used finding interesting information and providing it for other to use in their builds.  If I were to have made a build based on a lot of my discussions (as was the intent at one point) then it would have been a one off character, by doing it this way the information is available to everyone and if people can come with 10 interesting ways to use it then the community gets 10 new and interesting characters to try.

I only make these discussions so all of you creative people can find fun ways to use it, I'm more of a nerdy numbers kind of guy.

No James you are just not stingy with your info. People like to keep things like these a secret.

This is the main reason I don't use other people's mods if I can help it.  There are certain things that the unofficial patches fix that needed to be but there are other things I don't want them touching on my game, I'd rather fix specific problems with my own mods and leave everything else alone.

My original intention was to leave the topic of Fortify Marksman potion for my unarmed discussion but I wasn't close to finishing my Monk playthrough and wanted to post the Bashing guide so I added it there.  I was worried that the Bashing discussion would detract from the wow factor of the unarmed one but I think there is enough new content using Dragon Aspect and Necromage to make it a worthy read.

    P.S.

    Pie is awesome

    P.P.S.

If you want a drunken Monk try using Redwater Skooma, you get all dizzy and you will see your enemy as three...punch the one in the middle!!

and, I feel, the community is poorer for it...but that's just my opinion on the matter.

Nah, it just means there is more to learn about Skyrim still.

If things work as planned, wait until you read my next two discussions.  Two criminally underused aspects of the game are getting disected this week and I hope both will be as awesome as I think they can be.

One future discussion in particular that I have planned for next week might just inspire a few new character builds.  I'm currently messing around with a weapon that is off the charts!

that's a very good idea, Adrik got me interested with staves with some of his builds and it would definetly make for a worthy discussion.

What perks, spells and potions can be combined with various staves and/or scrolls.  I like it.
