An Argument for 'Unarmed Combat'

Next time post a part of your brain so I can mod my Skyrim too.

You are right that the bashing post definitely took some awe away from the unarmed discussion, but I feel that the community is ready for another hype. I for one would like to read a post about 'complete alchemy' since it would save time gathering information from different sites.

Keep this flow of info coming and you will need your own group here in the Skyrimblog! Searching for specific info like wikipedia style from this site is a pain or maybe it's just me that can't use it.

I will definitely make a build myself utilizing all the greatest features provided by the arguments cos I can feel the a recipe for success being born.. Still I'm no character builder and I think that if you would step out of your comfort zone and make a build, you would find something more from these things than most of us.

P.S. Fine pie is awesome, I was lying.

At the bottom of every one of my discussion are 'Tags'.  Each discussion I make I add the tag 'James' which, if you click the link, will bring up a list of every discussion I've made.  This was an awesome tip BenC game me!

I really want to make a complete Alchemy repository but it's not an easy project and it would pretty much take up all of my time for a few weeks.  Unfortunately (or fortunately!) the reception of these discussions has been quite good and people have been asking me all sorts of questions which has taken all of my focus.  There are just so many topics in Skyrim that are not understood or, worse yet, are misunderstood.

I've been testing a few things this week that have proven a few commonly cited things on this site are incorrect.  It seems a large amount of 'knowledge' the community has about this game is wrong so I'm torn between fixing errors or providing new and unknown info.

This is really cool. I still stand by my Mastermonk as a viable alternative to having to jump through so many hoops to reach promising levels of unarmed damage though lol, but this gameplan certainly works for those unwilling to utilize a glitch of that nature. As it stands, lets just hope Bethesda doesn't require us to jump through such hoops or sell our souls just to be able to punch or claw something to death in their next one.

Note #4 blew my mind. I'm so glad this article popped up again, I can't believe I'd missed it! Fantastic job, James. Hope you'll be back to wow us some more!

Wow, this is some really good stuff. I think you're my new favorite poster now. Seriously, you may be like the Isaac Newton of Skyrim or something. Keep 'em coming, man!

Seriously. Made me want to put together a monk character then and there.

The reason I wouldn't use hand to hand combat isn't even for the damage frankly, it's just that the animations are so boring (punch right, punch left...) that it becomes unappealing. Regardless this is a good find and definitely a good solution for bypassing glitches, I don't like to play using glitches or other cheats myself.

Hit right hit left, isn't that the same as swords or any weapon in this game? All you can do is hit right hit left power attack and kill cam, which is the same as most weapons but some of them block. So punching is no different animation wise from swords

Yeah that's true as well, I said that myself before, combat in Skyrim looks a bit too boring.

They should have implemented special melee attacks. Just like for magic you can set hotkeys from 1 to 8 to use different spells, there should have been special moves in melee you could hotkey from 1 to 8, like stabbing, attempting to grab the enemy, attempting to kick the enemy, throwing your weapon at them, and whatever else. It's not impossible, MMOs use this technology all the time.

But at least fighting with a sword and shield can be tactical. With unnarmed, you'll soon realise you don't even need to use left/right, you can just throw right punches all the way and it's more effective than using both hands.
