That might be why they're unnamed, they are the new members who aren't very good but the Brotherhood tolerates because they need the numbers. Although you'd think that once you'd made a name for yourself that they'd send someone else.

That's too bad Vez, any idea what causes them to come after you?  I've had to deal with them in many playthrus but I still don't know what triggers them.

Right now Polvar the Quiet is level 28.  He crafted the Aetherial Crown and loaded it with the Atronach stone for on demand magic absorbtion.  The Forgemaster very nearly killed him, a glancing hit with the fire breath saw Polvar's red bar empty very fast, luckily he had plenty of potions to chug and Erik to distract the Forgemaster.  Infact Erik the Slayer earned his title by being the one to deliver the final blow.  Polvar then went on to clean up some of the side quests he had, finished Arniels Endeavor and Re-forged the Gaudlur Amulet being among them.  He also became dragonborn unlocking flying death in my game but Atro Stone, Storm Atro, and stunlocking lightning bolts make them pretty easy to defeat.  He was going to get the Horn of Jugen for the Graybeards but was attacked by some cultists outside Windhelm, they were sent by someone named Miraak.  Polvar decided that he couldn't ignore some one trying to kill him, and thanks to fireball spam they very nearly did kill me, so he headed to Solstheim.

On Solstheim he cleared out Bloodskal Barrow and obtained Zahkriisos's mask, Lightning Cloak + Bound Sword = dead Dragonpriest.  Currently resting at the Retching Netch.

He's currently got 11 spells in his Grimoire thanks to three schools being at or above 50.

I believe its the same as wit the thugs. Piss someone off they do the Sacrament and voila ^^ Thing is i dont remember being naughty. but Anise send thugs after me just for sitting inside her hut during a storm. So it might have bein anyone (i blame J'zargo due to jealousy :D)

i never even set foot on Solstheim during this challenge, those burned Spriggans scare me. :D

    Freakin cats!!! ;P

Oh I didn't even think of Burnt Spriggans, but 50% spell absorb works wonders on spray attacks.  So far I havn't strayed far from Raven Rock but now that I think of it alot of my travel involved running away on horseback, not an option on Solstheim unless I go get Arvak.  I'll have to be extra wary while traveling the island, i'd be crushed if Polvar got one-shotted by a sneaky Sabrecat.

Think of the terror that would be Festus Krex or Astrids Husband just stalking you and you run into them in the city or something with casual clothes. Then you set out to quest and get hit by Fireballs from the Shadows now that would make the quest to kill them worth it :D

And managing to kill whoever they send should lead into the destruction quest instead of the stupid way it was done in the base game.

"I've discovered the location of the Dark Brotherhood's hideout"

    Guard: "How'd you managed that"

"I killed an old lady and then was abducted by their leader who I also killed"

Guard: "Right, so you've justed admitted to murder... Ok, go talk to the guys in Dragonbridge"

Or if you do manage to best one of them and then later join the Brotherhood it should come up at some point.

You proof youre skill by killing a member and take that place then. yeah that quest is stupid. I would like something along the lines of you kill the member and report it to Guard/Guard Captain and they tell you Maro has been searching for them and due to a spy he knows the next victim. Youre Mission: Follow the Assassin back to the Hideout, return to Maro, and then lead a troop of Penitus Oculatus Soldiers to Raid the Hideout. Way more believable than you killing 6 (7 if Cicero is there) Highly Skilled Assassins by just walking in the door and attacking. Or if you want to join you do the same but after tracking the Assassin you enter with the password and explain you killed the member and so on.

I agree.  There are several quests that just don't "feel right."  I would love the assassin (and bandit) encounters to ramp up if you keep defeating the guys sent to kill you.  They could eventually culminate in an epic named boss fight where the boss is unkillable but, upon being dropped to his knees, offers you a position.  The thieves guild questline is also one of the pigeon-holed lines that is fun but easily breaks immersion for most of my characters.

On an unrelated note, my Nord hedge mage Mathor just hit level 7.  I was unable to play him for the past week, but he is maturing nicely.  He worships Kynareth, lives like a hunter, doesn't pay for spells (only using what he finds), and is a generally friendly sort.  He witnessed the destruction of Helgen and joined forces with Ralof to warn the locals.  He then recovered a golden claw for a man named Lucan, which also allowed him to help the Jarl of Whiterun by retrieving a stone carving.  Finally, he defeated a dragon that was attacking Whiterun.  After resting up and praying at the temple of Kynareth, Danica Pure-Spring told him about the Eldergleam, so now he has set off to find the hagraven nest and secure the ancient dagger.

Personally, I am more fearful of ranged AoE blasts (like fireball) than the spray (cone) attacks.  They can come without warning and deal massive damage that you can't easily escape from.  The hagraven should test Mathor's capabilities (or kill him outright).  :-)

@ Feint:  Good luck with Orphan Rock!  A coven of witches at level 7 i hope your bringing a long some help.  I've tried doing the hedge mage a few times but never made it very far.  What's your Grimorire consist of at this stage of the game?
