What kind of house mod would you recommend for this character? Can't decide between either a castle or a mansion.

I would go with castle, it is they are much more militaristic. 

Stern is also the rear of a ship. This build would be great at covering a retreating military force. Grats on serendipitous naming.

You gotta roll with insightful or corpus enchanter as well (can't remember which one).
