Be Overpowered – Miraak's Guide to Early Level Quality Arms and Armor

    Armor

Steel Plate Armor Location 1: Ironbind Barrow

After a short quest involving a powerful Draugr Warlord, and a treacherous Argonian, you can kill an NPC named Salma to obtain the steel plate armor set. The Steel Battleaxe near the throne also has the unique Fiery Soul Trap enchantment on it. This ruin is a must go for characters specializing in 2H and Heavy Armor.

Steel Plate Armor Location 2: Whiterun

Inside the Bannered Mare you’ll encounter a woman named Uthgerd the Unbroken, she’ll challenge you to a fist fight, and if you should win she becomes a possible follower. She can then be lured away, and killed to obtain another set of Steel Plate without the helmet. This is by far the simplest method of obtaining Steel Plate.

    Steel Plate Armor: Other Methods

    • The Black-Briar Lodge contains several mercenaries wearing the just the Steel Plate Armor portion, without anything else.
    • Steel Plate Gauntlets and Boots can be looted from Vigilant Tolan during the Dawnguard quest involving Dimhallow Crypt, this combined with the above armor grants a third set of the armor minus the helmet.

    Orcish Armor Location: Largashbur

A full set minus the gauntlets can be stolen from the Shrine of Malacath here. During “The Cursed Tribe” Chief Yamarz drops his full set upon death.

    Weapons

Ebony Weapons Location 1: The Lost Valkygg

An Ebony Bow and Ebony 2H Weapon can be found on two Draugr Deathlords that spawn here. I advise the use of Master Level Restoration Scrolls to soften up the powerful enemies some more.

Ebony Weapons Location 2: Arcwind Point

It is possible to get an Ebony 1H here, but it will sometimes spawn as a normal ancient nord weapon.

I wouldn't call fighting Draugr Deathlords at low levels easy... Agreed on Ironbind Barrow pretty easy quest and good gear right from the start. Bound Bow is of Daedric quality and has a static spell tome in Fort Amol Prison. Also I'm not sure, but King Olaf was dropping ebony weapons too (I think he's fixed level too). he can be killed very easily, just sit and watch how Svaknir deals with him

I don't mention them as easy. I'll also get to work adding in the Bound Bow location. It isn't of Daedric Quality until the first bound weapons perk just so you know.

I thought this is a guide of how to easily get high level gear on lower levels. What's the point of knowing the location of Ebony Bow wielding Draugr Deathlord on low levels if fighting him is suicidal?

I found 2 places to get the same pieces of steel plate without murder: Blackbriar Lodge SE of Riften always has guys(usually hostile) wearing the Chestplate with fur or hide boots and gloves/bracers. The Boots and Gauntlets can be found on the Vigilant of Stendar, plus an leveled enchanted Warhammer, at Dimhollow crypt once you start Dawnguard. And a Free crossbow if you talk to the Orc outside before going in the Fort.

I never mention easily in the section containing the ebony bow, nor anywhere else. If it's advice for fighting him you seek, then get a follower to fight him while you fight from a distance. Should you follower go down, and he charges at you then make sure you drop straight to sneak mode.

I'm not saying you mentioned it. It's just that I think that the guide will be more handy if it contained the locations of easily obtained high level gear. Knowledge of a location won't help if you can't get through on low levels. And seeing how followers are scaled based on your level, I doubt that they will be helpful too.

Some followers like housecarls start at lvl 10 even when you get them at lvl 1. The lowest level for a follower would be lvl 5 for guys like Sven who cap at lvl 25.

Still, without decent equipment they won't be able to hold the Deathlords long enough, not to say about killing. And when they are down, the Draugrs will turn on you.

You can give them stolen potions maybe(because at lvl 1 it's hard to get good ones cheap) or do the argonian ale fetch for the Whiterun beggar, who gives a heal 100 health potion.
