Knights of the Elder Scrolls

I mostly agree with this opinion, though I would leave paladins out of this, because frankly, TES somehow lacks these guys. At least not in the way we are used to see them in other universes.

Yes there is in TES a lack righteous paladins killing evildoers or vice versa. There are the vigilants and I think in daggerfall there were knightly orders connected with the various gods who could be considered to be paladins.

Well, that´s the point. None are Paladins, many can be considered, yet they aren´t. And that is the purpose of this discussion.

Those Knights who follow some deity can be considered Paladins, but they lack something all paladins have from other universes. Their power comes from their god they chose to worship. You see where I´m getting with that? The Elder Scrolls lack this "god fuels his worshiper with power."

Anyone skilled in Restoration can be a priest. A healer. A mage. That´s why there aren´t paladins in TES. Just Knights, Crusaders and Witchhunters.

Yes that's because the TES gods cant directly intervene with events only the daedra so its impossible for traditional good paladins to exist, and there are no known orders of daedric paladins (that I know of). The only power of the god related thing I can think of is the knights of the nine dlc. The whole paladins and the TES universe is a lot like ancient history where almost anything is debatable.

Gods I'm tired. Need to get more than six hours sleep between shifts

I won't argue against your interpretations Lis, the beauty of this setting is that there are multiple to be had. The only issue I have is about Auriel's Bow and Shield which legend has it were given to him by Anuiel. This makes the story bogus as Anuile is on the same gradient as Sithis and is therefore a force of stasis rather than a gift-giving entity.

Hi Phil, yeah, it's the same problem I have with the legend too, but it's still his bow and shield for Auri-El to do with what he pleases once he's got it. It's a matter of how and where he gets it in the first place that I have my own thoughts on.

Interesting. I may have to read up again on The History of the Fighter's Guild. Boring book. I do remember the Akaviri influence but I'll need to reassess and discover why I interpreted the guild in that particular way. Thanks Golds.

So you don't like knightly spies? What do you think of Lady Benoch? I won't have a bad word said about the Blades now Karves

Hey Phil what would you say to Knightly assassins?

Actually I don´t have anything against knightly spies. By that grey area I meant that it is somewhat hard to connect knights and spies and still think about them as knights, but we break it down to point where it makes sense that even spies can be knights.
