Writers Discuss - Romance (#10)

I don't understand romance or romantic love at all. I have never been in love. It would feel extremely awkward if I tried to write something of which I have absolutely no experience. Some part of me is still a wee child.  I still cover my eyes for kissing scenes on TV and wrinkle my nose when partners do lovey-dovey things. Even if my parents have a prolonged hug, I avert my eyes out of habit! Reading sex scenes in novels makes me feel nauseous. I really need to grow up, huh.

Well, to put into context: many of us don't experience death (at least I hope not; there's a possibility that a homicidal maniac dwells among us ) but it's a frequent topic in books. I don't think you have to experience love to write about it. But, I gotta admit; I feel the same way. XD

Haha, as a matter of fact, I have experienced my share of violence and death (in the latter case, not human death, but close enough right). But you're right! I'll definitely be including mild relationships. I'm not certain, however, if I'll be able to stomach anything more intense than a kiss. XD

I honestly can't tell whether that's sarcasm or not, because while Sildriel is extremely lovely, I am perhaps the least 'love'ly person on this Earth!

No not sarcasm. I am capable of being serious SOMETIMES Unhelpful!

In any case, I can only get a sense of what people are like from this forum by what they write.

In my case, a facetious old fart
