It looks like one yes.. I think this is not his screenshot but rather from a mod (you can see the before-after differences). That is why it is not a human as you mentioned and as it should be according to him.

Sorry, it isn't my picture. It was one of the few that I could find easily on google. Which is why it is inaccurate.

also, any race works, but using the skull warpaint that I used isn't as visible on dark elves, or elves in general.

In the Skyrim Art Group there's a discussion for requesting screenshots.

Another thing... what do you think about vampire boots and gauntlets, they may look more authentic, no?

what about frost and ice shouts (if not spells)

the icy hands of death, the cold touch of death... etc...

I thought about that, but I wasn't sure if they would affect alteration spells or not. So to be safe I just decided to use the Thalmor items instead. Plus I personally am a fan of the Thalmor look.

If you believe that works better for the look, you are more than welcome to use them. I just use a console and adding in those shouts or spells just made the favorites list of mine too long and cumbersome to use.

Just as a question, why should Death allow anyone to return from the afterlife, the only reason Dead has for using Resurrection spells (in my opinion) is to Banish undead as described in Masons Heretic build, nevertheless, a good build, I think i will play this one, but I´ll use a white horse because of Terry Pratchetts awesome Discworld Books

    nevertheless +1 from me
