I googled how to make star icons using ALT codes and then picked on I liked.
So for instance holding down alt and imputing the following code "& # 9 0 5 5" (without the spaces) into powerpoint results in this icon: ⍟
I have noticed that the resulting icon depends on where you use it, when I try it here I get: _ , so you need to find one that works for whatever program you are using. And since the icon counts as text you can do to it everything that you can do to text.
Edit: well it would appear that on this site just writing the code gets the symbol to appear when I post the comment.
