The sun damage thing is sort of related to that. I get that it's not ideal in an MMO but it does leave a slight frown on my face. TES isn't like Twilight in which vampires become sparkly-glowy in the sun. It's much more traditional and more like proper vampires, so for there to be no sun damage is like an immediate hurdle for the suspension of disbelief. It would be interesting if there was some kind of optional toggle feature so as to leave the choice to the players. Like, those who want a complete vampire experience could toggle sun damage on and off... Nah, that wouldn't work that well either. But I definitely think a day/night toggle is viable in player housing so that a player's home can be an eternal night for that vampire experience.

Lorewise, the vampirism players have doesn't have a weakness to sunlight. The Noxiphilic Sanguivoria strain is said to not be weak to sunlight, but instead grow in power at night. Of course, the night strength isn't shown in-game either.

You're right. I just read that book now, I think for the first time (which shows how much I care about vampires. ZOS, why couldn't you have given us a weapon skill instead? :D) That's an interesting bit of lore in that we only have one source for it which is 50% accurate at best. I wonder if Leamon Tuttle's post-show discussion on the subject implies players will be vamps of a new strain? Which in turn hopefully means more books exploring the subject in far greater detail.

Did we know that there was a regional split in Skyrim before? I imagine we probably did and it's just something that I missed but it's really interesting, is it still a matter similar to the Civil War in Skyrim where the more Imperialized cities around Solitude are connected to the Empire or do we really not know much about it? Because the entire premise of this is pretty cool, obviously I was hoping for a Solstheim focused DLC but I do understand why they didn't do that...Actually I guess it might make sense to return to Solstheim to make adjustments to the Werewolf form (unless they've given it a major overhaul recently)

Bah, now I'm just half rambling because I'm a little out of sorts with ESO still, especially when it comes to what they've done with Skyrim or Werewolves (which naturally meant they were the topics I went for).

We sort of knew about the split as most of it comes to us in-game from a book called The Crown of Freydis. So it's been established that there is this schism but we haven't really heard much about the details and extent of the tension. It's cool they described it as a cold war during the stream, so I share your sentiment about getting to see more of that stuff, for sure! Edit: it's like a reverse of TES Skyrim, I guess, in that the Westerners are the isolationists and traditionalists compared to the Eastern Nords who are happy to join the Pact etc.

I do hope the side quests will be just as interesting as the main quest. Morrowind had family feuds (and Naryu), Elsweyr gave us some more lore on the Akaviri and their descendants. I can't wait what Greymoor will give us. Maybe more insight on lesser known Nordic lore and culture?

I'm right with you there, Pocky! If i were to put my hopes into words then I'd be anticipating Morthal's Morihaus connection gets massively expanded upon, that we see more of Solitude's dark history pre-third era, Dragonbridge lore exploring the significance of that ancient bridge, and Ancient Nordic Meridia worship. I'd love it if Dragonbridge was somehow tied up with the temple of Merid, like being the route the pilgrims took and the town sprang up around that. Such a rich area to explore and almost a blank slate to work with.

That's interesting as well I suppose, I suppose for me the idea of them somehow being aligned with the remains of the Imperial City could be more interesting but since Cyrodiil is mostly just PVP (right?) and that's never interested me I have no idea how that's portrayed beyond the initial premise of ESO. So yeah for me that was where I was leaning, but anything will be interesting to me, love learning the politics behind each region we're introduced to.

Oooh good points, Mor would almost certainly be the most fascinating thing for them to explore that I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure that I could think of something else but ever since you've introduced me to the whole Morthal thing the more interested I've become in Skyrim's perception of Mor. If they've specifically mentioned Morthal then that's the obvious angle isn't it? Unless they go with something new I suppose.

There is a PvE questline within the Imperial City, but it's focuses around protecting the Sublime Brazier; the relic used to light the Dragonfires, from being destroyed. You fight alongside a very small group of Legionaries that have gained a form of immortality similar to that of the player characters; they come back whenever they die, and a former Dragonguard/Blade. Other than that there really isn't an Imperial Government anymore, those regions that are at a distance from the City have gone back to being self-governed. And from what I've seen in other areas of the game, the only members of Varen Aquilarios' Empire that haven't scattered are those who were off on some other assignment when the Soulburst happened.

Just to add to what Goldie said and pick up on the Imperial City content, the quests Golds mentions are imo some of the best. Imperial City has this brilliant quest chain with some fantastically written characters that is well worth doing. I mean, Drake of Blades is autistic which is so well written and voiced as to make her one of the most three dimensional characters in the entire series. The immortal legionnaires Golds talks about each seem to be embodiments of the Eight Divines. It's quite clever, and because it's set in a warzone, their plight is harder-hitting. The only trouble is that warzone puts players off from experiencing it which is a shame because it is so good!

To the point where I only started it to get the Dye from completing the questline.

Speaking of the Drake of Blades, (SPOILERS) do you think we'll ever see her again in a future game? We somehow end up down there and she's still protecting the Brazier, or would Arkay have let her rest once there was no longer any need for it after the events of Oblivion?
