Tamriel Vault Podcast

I would be up for a podcast. Maybe similar to a weekly round-up, but a little more detailed. Maybe personal input as opposed to only the statement of facts about the site. Multiple people all set up on Skype or something similar? You could have a few hosts each podcast. You could get input from each one on how they think their group is doing, stuff that surprised them in their group or around the site. Maybe even a preview of future events or hints of upcoming posts.

Lore discussions would be the obvious choice for discussion, as there is so much to discuss, but there would have to be a line between discussions and arguments, which might get past on occasion. Having a section of the podcast dedicated to each group could be interesting, but would probably be dominated by CB pretty fast, a changing cast could prevent that though.

An hour a week seems like the most popular choice of formatting for podcasts, but maybe we could even separate different topics, such as RP and lore, into different podcasts entirely.

I have some experience editing, but I've only done video as of right now, but I'm sure a lot of the skills are transferable for pure audio.

I would like to cast my pod into the mix:

    1. I think a podcast would be great to cover the general goings-on on the site ... but we need to make sure we have exciting goings-on to make this happen. I think we can then have segments or whatever to discuss like a focus for each one? Maybe a lore discussion or breakdown of what makes a great play through or character build or maybe even speculation into the next game or talks about what we would want to see.

    2. Probably shorter? I listen to a lot of long podcasts and a good plan before each one would go a long way to get great info out for listeners on the go and who are busy. Format could be open discussions timed to specific topics?

    3. I dunno how I could help, but if we did a Skype or google hangout for these, I could join in and be part of the discussions if that's cool.

I'm not really surprised, considering how easy it is for discussions to go unnoticed by the site's collective attention and that includes posts in the places people frequent such as the Character building groups and compared to that this was posted in a new group with a sum total of 60 members. Then there's also the fact that it isn't talking about everyone's greatest fear Change, which everyone has an opinion on and is instead about adding something to the site that wont greatly effect peoples comfort in things remaining the same.

But enough of my speculation and time for me to answer the questions:

    1. It's hard to think of anything that members don't already discuss among themselves here on the site, a lot of the things I can think of already have resources in their relevant groups for how to go about and to ask for help.
    2. I'd say an hour would be the maximum when looking at the length, we don't want it to be too long and have people getting bored but we also don't want it to be so short the participants are rushing through what they're talking about. As for the format I think it would be a good idea to have a section for what's new on the site and then just let the participants talk in general about whats happened on the site over the past week or however long since the last podcast.
    3. I could probably maybe appear infrequently as a very special guest, if not I'd probably be able to help with any art related things that would be required.

    This yes!

Also, keep topic on a narrow focus to maximize impact of the podcast.

I think having a podcast every 2-3 weeks would be fantastic! I'd definitely love to be involved with the actual creation of it as well. I think we would need to key on these aspects:

    1. Keeping it under 60 minutes. This eliminates random rants about pointless things and gives us plenty of time to talk about what we need to talk about.
    2. Showcasing awesome content that has been posted in the time since the last podcast. focusing on old content never got us anywhere, so we would definitely want to keep the content fresh and new - maybe even incorporate a review of the most popular build in that time frame as well?
    3. Having a committed team. We can't even being to think about having a podcast unless we have a committed team behind it. As I said I would be more than happy to be one of the commentators, but we would likely need about 5 people to actually make it a reality.

I think everyone who's put in their ideas agrees that we should keep it short. I would even go far enough to say that it should be kept under a half hour. That would help attract people that don't usually listen to longer podcasts, like me.

    1. Basically what everyone has said. Lore, CB, etc. Could even bring on a guest who specializes on whatever said segment is about. Maybe two or three permanent commentators. That should be enough for a variety of expertise and personalities while still leaving room for a guest.
    2. Throwing my hat in for 30-45 minutes. Monthly should work as well.
    3. I could probably help commentate. Or just be brought on as a guest whenever you guys want to talk lore. I only have another three weeks of school left in my semester, so I'll be more free after that but I'm mostly free on weekends even now.

This is just an idea but could at least on of the podcast's episodes be Phil reading the Investigator Vale books from ESO?

    So no podcast?
