Most of my synergy happens by accident Al (Oneness and Mason are the real naturals), but I wouldn't sell yourself short.
I always wondered whether a shieldmage without a shield would work, using an unenchanted staff to block. Do they resist much damage? I saw you perked Shield Wall so they must've done something otherwise that investment wouldn't be worth it. What level of shield would you say they're equivalent to?
I really need to try a no-crafting build, but I seriously struggle not to pick up every ingredient I can find. Enchanting and Smithing are easy to resist, it's just damn Alchemy. The day I don't touch an Alchemy stand will likely be the day I remove Skyrim from the disk tray for good.
Still can't see the words "The Oracle" without thinking of the Matrix. "I'm the oracle dammit!" :D

Hahaha damn you Matrix! I'm a crafter too man. Especially after I started using Alchemy. If I had a potion for every butterfly I killed..actually I did! It's nice to change it up though.
I mentioned in it under the perk spread but without perks you can block for 36% damage resistance, 62% with Shield Wall 5/5. Shields vary depending on base AR but the Hide Shield with no perks blocks for about 48% and with all Shield Wall perks about 78%. Regardless, this character has so much Health that the Shield Wall perks don't have to be a priority, especially when you factor in Ring of the Beast (indeed). They're better saved for higher levels when it becomes a necessity against tough dragons and heavy hitters.

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said, here comes the big boss, let's get it on
We took the bow and made a stand, started swaying with the hand
A sudden motion made me skip, now we're into a brand new trip
Easy plus one. A martial artist monk class, with Taoist RP, and that uniquely Alastor brand of awesomeness. Once I post my Musashi build they will have to have a comparison of technique... Or just sit and talk over tea :D
