This guy was like my first Nord without a serious beard. It kinda felt weird.

A son of Whiterun himself, he learnt how to ride a horse from a young age. His father was the stable master of the city back then. As a stable boy, he had a horse from a small age. Herja, was a fine brown steed. He took care of her like she was the only friend he ever had. Truth was, he had also two other friends. Frynjil and Fjoti, the twin son and daughter of a farmer in the outskirts of the city. They worked their whole lives in the farm and by the time they became old enough, they purchased two horses for themselves also. The Companion spent his whole childhood working at the stables and it wasn't that he didn't like to take care of the horses, but he wanted to live an adventure. Lots of citizens who could wield a sword were coming to his father to buy a horse and then, they rode to the battlefield to die. The Great War. With all that work, he didn't have time play with his friends or just sit down and enjoy the day. Tough times for a stable boy. When the war ended, he was already old enough to take care of his own. His father was looking at him proud, as he equiped his bow, rode Herja and left to hunt with the his other two friends. They rode all day, and when night covered them, they didn't stop. They wouldn't find game in Whiterun. They had to reach Falkreath.

They passed Helgen and lost their way in the forests. It was dark and they couldn't see a thing, so they found some deadwood and lighted a campfire. There they sat, under the light of the stars, with salted fish in their hands for dinner, and a big smile in their faces. The time had come to live their adventure. All of them were skilled with the bow and obviously, knew how to ride a horse. They were preparing all their lives for that moments. For the Hunt.

Then, they heard footsteps. He got up and looked around with a torch in his hand. There, up that hill, was a great white stag. He looked at it with opened mouth. First time he was seeing such a big animal. Surely, something was wrong with it. He didn't care. If he was able to kill it, he would make all Whiterun to look at him as something more than a simple stable boy. He took off his bow and whispered to his friends to do the same. They aimed at the neck of the animal and fired.

    "Got it!" they screamed together.

There they were. Three arrows deep in the flesh of the white stag. It turned its head and looked at them. Not with terror, but with curiosity. The company stared back somewhat in terror, as the animal moved its head with rejection and ran away. They continued to stare at it as it ran through the woods and out of their sight. Yeah, there was something wrong with this stag. Then, they heard more footsteps. They looked back and saw a girl with red hair running after the stag, with a big wooden bow in her hand. She was somewhat at their age, but much more stronger and faster. She was wearing furs all over her body and had a set of iron arrows in her back. She aimed and fired an arrow at the animal. There was no way she was going to hit it. It was too far away and the area was full of trees. She got it in the back of the head. The animal fell down and coasted down the hill. It fell to a river and down a small waterfall. In some way, it was still alive. It swam out of the water and ran the other way of the river in the woods. The girl ran behind it for some time, but then gave up and walked back to them. Then, a huge man appeared. He had long red hair as well, and was wielding an even bigger bow with arrows that looked to be made out of bone. He was wearing furs all over his body, too.

"We will spot it, daughter. Don't worry" he said to the girl and rubbed her hair. She hated when someone was rubbing her head. Then, she saw the three kids staring at her with open mouths.

"What in the wolf's leg are you milkdrinkers doing out here? We were following the spirit for hours and you just screwed us!" she yelled at them.

"Umm... we came to hunt..." they said scared.

"Hunting isn't for milkdrinkers. What are you? Farm boys? Or stable ones? Oh! You are a girl. Sorry, but you look like a boy. So, what are you doing out here? Seriously".

    Fjoti's face went red.

"We came to hunt, girl. Sure, we ain't all skilled as you, but we want to learn" Frynjil said.

"Aye, we could learn you a thing or two about hunting. You look strong. You could sure wield a bigger weapon than that little dagger you have there".

    "No money for bigger weapon".

"So, you are a farmer boy indeed".

    "I... I am".

"And you are ashamed of it?".

"I... You... no. No I am not".

"So, you want to live your whole life in the shadows, huh? You want to spent your life feeding great kings and jarls, while you cannot even afford to buy a decent axe".

    "Of course not".

    "Good".

    "So, will you train us?".

"No. You ruined the only way I could get in touch with my mother. You have no help from me".

"What?" the stable boy spoke for the first time.

"So, you have a mouth, too. Tell me, you three, that you don't know what the white stag was".

    "We don't".

"I should have expected it. This was the Spirit of the Hunt. Lord Hircine. The Daedric Lord of Hunting. My mother was a werewolf. She is dead. Slaying the animal could grant me a word with Hircine. He could let me speak with my mother in his Hunting Grounds. Tomorrow is my trial, up in Jorrvaskr in Whiterun. I really wish she would be here to see it...".

"What is your name?" the stable boy asked.

    "Aela".

    Nord. Again.

    1/3/2.

I personally, do not really care what the bonuses are, so I chose the Steed, 'cause the Companion is a pure son of Whiterun, the land of the horsemen. But if you aren't really into this RP thing, you can choose the Warrior for a start up and then the Lover or the Lady. Yes, the Lady.

    Major Skills: One-Handed, Block, Archery

Minor Skills: Smithing, Restoration, Light Armor, Heavy Armor

    Level 15

Level 30 (+all the Werewolf perks)

Level 50 (+all the Werewolf perks)

I really like to mix armors. So, I used the scaled horn armor with iron helmet/gauntlets/boots and I named it "Combat Gear". By the time I completed the Companions questline I wore the full Wolf armor, but I already had a decend Light Armor skill, so I parted the equipment to two attires:

    Hunting Gear:

Full Fur Armor for the north and east of Skyrim

    and

Full Hide Armor for the south and west.

    Combat Gear:

Full Steel Armor (with the nordic version of boots and gauntlets) or Scaled Horn Armor with Iron Helmet/Gauntlets/Boots

    and

Full Wolf Armor (if you choose to keep your werewolf blood) or Full Ancient Nord Armor (if you choose Sovngarde to be your resting place) after the end of the Companions questline.

    Hunting Gear:

Hunting Bow or the Bow of the Hunt with Iron Arrows and Valdr's Lucky Dagger or Skyforge Steel Sword and a Hide Shield.

    Combat Gear:

Skyforge Steel Sword and a Hide Shield or a Steel Shield and after the Companions questline Ysgramor's Shield.

His axe won't be much use to you, so let it stand strong at the hands of the statue of Ysgramor in his tomb.

    Allie.

Your father is dead now. He lived a quiet and happy life and time took him. Herja, your horse, died with him, but before that, she born a black female horse. You leave the babe at the stables to grow and bury your father and your horse in the woodlands of Riverwood, away from the noise of the city, so that they may find peace. You are now a fully grown man. You are free to adventure all you want. You sell the stables to a farmer and begin working as a sellsword traveling to Cyrodiil. You don't like it there. Nothing like the homeland. So, you decide to return after you make some coin and soon, you find yourself at Helgen, waiting to be executed for nothing.

    You escape.

Tears run down your face as you reach Whiterun. The first thing you do is visit the stables. The farmer you sold the stables to is still there. You ask him about the babe horse you left there seven years ago. He tells you that her name is Allie and that she has become a strong and foolhardy horse, like her mother.

    You buy her.

You enter combat the classic sword 'n board style. When facing multiple opponents, just move slowly backyards with your shield raised and wait for an opening in one of your enemies. When that opening does come, unleash your steel and chop him real deep. Remember to block their attacks! If you play vanillia skyrim, wearing heavy armor and wielding a shield makes you a complete juggernaut, so try to raise the difficulty a bit or if you like to always win, live it at adept or expert. Alright, truth is that the chosen armor isn't too high level, so you should be fine. Just keep blocking the blows to keep realism alive and later game, when your health gets too low use restoration magic (see below).

The first thing you do when you escape Helgen is go to Whiterun and join the Companions. You will be pleased to find someone you know there from your younger years . Stay at Jorrvaskr, train everyday with your shield-siblings at the dummies outside, have some shoots at the targets with Aela, let Eorlund teach you a few things about smithing up in the mighy Skyforge, and when night comes take a sit on the mead hall and enjoy a few good drinks with your brothers and sisters.

Do a lot of bounty quests. The Companions have unlimited. Your main source of gold come from these missions. By the time you earn the 1000th septim, go at the stables and buy Allie.

You need to train in order to become a good warrior. Just have your time power attacking the dummy, while thinking about good combat strategies. If you are on pc, make sure to install a mod called "Enhanced Skyrim Factions: The Companions". It greatly improves the Companions experience by making it much more difficult to advance in the ranks and giving you the ability to spar with your fellow siblings to see who's the best.

The only way to join the Circle is to become a Werewolf and it is a risk you're going to take. Seeing how badass Aela looks with her werewolf background, gives you one more reason to do it. Becoming a werewolf means becoming stronger and faster (and could help you grow that damned beard). As much as you want to see the Hall of Valor, you want to live with your love for an eternity. Seeing that Aela ain't going to purify her blood, you follow her path and become one of her own. Her blood is flowing inside you and your blood inside her. The ultimate bond. Together forever. Transforming into the beast, is very dangerous and should only be used in true needs. I roleplayed it like in the beginning you couldn't control it. I transformed in the middle of the city, in my quarters at Jorvaskrr, in the Jarl's palace, while taking a piss. I think Bethesda screw it up a bit with werewolves. Mastering the ability can only be achieved by getting the Ring of Hircine or completing the skill tree with the perks. So, I advise you to follow those rules, if you want to truly immerse yourself in being a werewolf. You could always keep the Cursed Ring of Hircine from "Ill met by Moonlight" quest until you fill the skill tree and then complete the quest to get the original ring. At least, that's what I did. Everyone is bit**ing about how low is the werewolf's armor, but no one is talking about how a claw attack can throw almost anyone off a mountain. Spamming that attack against even the toughest group of opponents can earn you a victory. So, keep howling my fellow wolf!

But sure, its your decision if you want to stay werewolf or purifying your blood at the end of the Companions questline. Kodlak trusted you his place in the Mead Hall because he thought you were wise. All the Companions back to Ysgramor himself were noble Nord warriors with Nord blood. But of course they had a beard. They looked epic. You look like a child. So, if you choose to break the tradition, I understand you. I did it too. I say to everywone that I did it because I love Aela so much. But no. I only did it because a Nord without a beard has no place in Sovngarde watsoever.

If you want to do the Main Quest, start it after finishing the Companions questline. That's what I did. Actually, I didn't have a choice. Requiem's a bi**h. But I love it.

That's kinda a tradition of mine every time I start a character. Maybe I just love Galmar too much. Join the Stormcloaks! The Empire is in ruins! Skyrim ought to be ruled by Nords, as it is Nord land! (like Morrowind is Dunmer land, Summerset isle is Altmeri land, Black Marsh is Argonian land etc.). The Companion isn't racist at all. It's just that Skyrim is the only province in Tamriel that it isn't ruled by it's inhabitants, but by foreigners from Cyrodiil. Skyrim ought to do what the Redguards did. They kicked off the Empire and stand alone against the Dominion for about 30 years. The Nords can do the same! No peace until we are free!

Again, the first thing you will do is join the Companions. After joining you can go out and do whatever you want. But, when you return one night from hunting a sabre cat Aela said you needed to and see a bunch of vampires killing Adrianne the blacksmith, you will get so furious that you'll travel to that famous fort Dawnguard you heard from a guard and join those badass crossbow wielders.

Ok, I think it's ridiculous for one to forget becoming a Companion, while playing the Companion, but I will write it here for those who forget easily.

Make the questline last long. Maybe do some other questlines before becoming Harbinger, like the Dawnguard as I mentioned earlier. Do as much radiant quests as possible. You should become Harbinger when you are at high levels. If you complete the questline before going to Sovngarde at the Main Quest, you will get a special hello from Kodlak there.

Well, after rotting for two weeks at Jorrvaskr doing bounty quests, you will get so bored that you will start considering committing suicide. So here is where magic comes in.

You travel to Winterhold to learn magic like your mighty ancestors. After a few weeks of practise, you become an apprentice in Restoration magic. Do not finish the questline. I repeat, do NOT finish the questline. You will be just a student there. It's kinda game breaking being master of two completely different guilds.

After you complete the Companions questline, take Aela as your follower and have some adventures and a few drinks with her, 'cause you know that you're secretely in love with her from that moment in the Falkreath Hold when you first met her. Such a wild beast. Beware though: she can't be tamed.

However, she can tame you if she want to.

You are a fun person to sit with. When you are going to choose a dialogue, choose the one with the most humor or if you are speaking to someone you don't like choose the one with the most irony. When you don't like someone you say it to his face. But your emotions are unpredictable. For example, at the start you hated Skjor for two reasons: no matter what you do, you are a whelp to him and there was a great possibility he had something to do with Aela. You consider him a filthy greedy little bastard, that has no place in his heart for honour, but only for gold. After a little talk with him at the Mead Hall one night, he lets you learn some things about his past and his relationships with Kodlak, and you somewhat start to respect him. But then he dies and you get sad for all the things you believed for him, 'cause now you realise they ain't true.

Inns are a fine place to relax. I'm sure you would need a drink and a warm fire after some troll hunting.

As I said, you are a truly fun person to sit with. When you're fighting, you like to smile at your opponent to anger him and when he charges you quickly dodge his attack and place your sword into his back. If he yield, you let him go. You also like to throw out funny threats to your enemies. It makes fights more relaxing. Yeah, you got it. Just start screaming stupid things at your pc screen. My sister thinks I got mad.

Also, you're getting any job done, no matter what. Especially if it is a Companions job. There ain't be a "I don't want to do this". If you tell something like that when they offer you an opportunity to become greater, Skjor was right. You will always be a whelp.

And that's one more reason to have some fun after such an accomplishment.

Go jumb from a mountain to a cold river.

    You're extreme like that.

Also, if you're going to worship a particular god more than others, make sure to offer him some of your valuables. Some mead or a venison chop would be nice. Make sure to wear his amulet at all times and pay a visit at one of his shrines regulary to speak with him.

So, how will you abandon this guy to start another one? Just go build a small cabin in Falkreath with Hearthfire DLC (if you don't have it stay at Jorrvaskr) and marry the one you love so much from the time you were just a lad. This red-haired werewolf that is waiting for you up in the Mead Hall.

All this talk about how amazing Serana is...

What's a dead vampire goth in front of a red-haired huntress who can transform into a giant black wolf?

    Vote for Aela!

Umm... remember when I told you that this was my first Nord without a beard? Well, it was too weird for me. Screw it.

I am just getting starting and I ain't stopping. Any comments appreciated.

This definitely deserves a like! Great job on the detail and presentation. You truly sold this as a fun character to play. My only issue is that, as far as I can tell, the majority of the backstory has no bearing on who or what the character is. It seemed more like personal backstory combined with a Brave crossover.

  • July 8, 2014

Aye, sorry about that, I made some terrible mistakes in the backstory. I'll try to correct it right now. Btw thanks.

Edit: Alright, I renamed the backstory to "early years" and corrected some stupid things I wrote.

I really liked the backstory with this, really made the build seem complete. The pictures are all great and suit the build perfectly and the only thing i can recommend being improved is it seems slightly to spread-out at the beginning with your text being a fair bit apart. Also it seems very picture heavy at the end with the text being broken up to much maybe try moving them around a little. Very nice. Build though and a +1 from me.

Thank you, I'll try to fix it.

This is your magnum opus, man. I love the detail you put into his personality. That's a rare medium well done here. And coincidentally, Robina fits perfectly with the build, save for the attitude and gender. A few things I must add though. Your picture headers seem a tad too big, resulting in awkward gaps. And in the last picture your character's thigh is clipping, and is that a civilian's body? Anyways, wicked sick build, Vulfar. +1

  • July 8, 2014

Haha, aye, he is a civilian. The screenshot is near Labyrinthian. Those damned trolls started to hunt me and a civilian came to help me and they slay him . At least I avenged his death. Anyway, thank you very much buddy, at the moment I am trying to fix those big ass gaps.

The blog needs more bearded nordy nords! Even if they do have weird desert king lookin beards!

  • July 8, 2014

Hahaha couldn't say it better myself.

I am on it . Btw thanks.
