I love the concept of a no melee thief, I started this one today, and its a blast! I've never done pickpocket without saving before I try it, but I tried it for this character, and its so thrilling! +1

I stand by not looting corpses either way. It is a fun restriction on gameplay to help you stick to the character. As for stealing from the trainers, I can see your argument for not pickpocketing the trainers, but I want to see my character become a Master thief.
At first you wouldn't be able to steal the gold every time but as you became a better thief you'd have a better chance of stealing everything back. A fun middle ground could be making it a rule that trainers who catch you x amount of times will refuse to train you from then on. Maybe take it further and by depositing a large some of gold in the trainers home, they would agree to start training you again.

It is a very fun change from constant combat. It brings a lot of tension to the game as you find yourself in dangerous situation, with very few ways to defend yourself if things go wrong.
To answer the question below this, I'd say the tower would make a good choice later on, as would the Shadow stone.

I always meant to do the full thieves guild quest line, but never got around to it and ended up just leaving it hanging half way through. I was just having too much fun looting random caves and doing the thieves side quests to get round to it. I'll have to load the character up soon and finish it up.
