Verily. You should apply for the Lore Host position.

I haven't forgotten about this! I'll reply this afternoon some time since I have more thoughts. I just gotta get the RL work outta the way first. Then orcs.

I'm pretty persuaded at this point that Durak up and left his tribe and another chieftain replaced him. The thing about the name was really the nail in the coffin. Though I am curious -- how many duties of the Cheiftain apply to Skyrim's Orc strongholds? They dont ever mention raids or war that I've noticed, so it seems like a Skyrim chief might have it pretty easy. Secondly, can a chief step down? Or would that be seen as all sorts of dishonorable? I mean if Durak left, they probably understood why he was leaving and that he would be away for a while, so I find myself wondering how that went over with the tribe, both if he was a cheif in Skyrim or, what, Orsinium? Nothing is really given on that and I'm not sure how tribes differ by region.

Raids. Well, raids...yeah. It´s that part of the lore where I can´t still decide if it´s simple as that. The book 2920 mentions Orcs raiding a Breton village. 2920 is a fiction book. Then Orcs are not very fond of fighting defensless people. But then you have Bretons and Redguards spread this propaganda about Orcs coming down from their mountains to plunder. Now, is it really a propaganda? Or are the raiders Orcs that have been cast away? Bandits? Or are they really Stronhold Orcs? Questions, questions, questions.
I´ve been playing with the idea that in Skyrim the Orcs could be actually raiding bandit camps in their area and such. Also...Dushnikh Yal. They would definitely raid the Forsworn Kingdom of Heaven "GOD DEMANDS IT!" style. Since Reachmen worship Malacath too I can imagine things can be quite heated around Dushnikh.
Can chief step down? It´s like asking if you can go to Ashen Forge without Good Death. Nah, most likely not, which is why I think he left without saying a word or something. Things could get heated otherwise. If he´d tried to leave publicly, everyone would suddenly be challenging him. Can´t forget the "tribe before vengeance thing".

Interesting. Thanks, Karver. I'm glad so much came out of such a simple question. Though now I'm curious why Orcs even have tribes, when a united government would make them stronger as a race. I'll make another topic for that.
