Hey Karves. Hmm, what do I likes?
I like all lore, because it's really cool and the more of it that goes into my writing, the happier I am. The things I like to focus on the most are Altmer lore, Nordic lore, dragon lore, the lore behind the earliest eras where things were not set out quite yet, Aedra, Daedra, and metaphysical lore, especially the connection of beings throughout the passage of time. These are the topics that call to me most.

You're going to hate me for being extremely obtuse, but for me, you need both. That I am drawn to both means that I am drawn to their fundamental conflict. I don't think you can have one without the other. I don't think you can appreciate one without appreciating the other. If you do, you are not getting the complete story behind these two. These two lores are like two sides of the coin, you, however, cannot pay with only one side of a coin. :D

I smell Harvey Dent lurking around... :D
I do understand your position though. Look at the Orcs, look at what I like about them. Malacath and Trinimac, but one is ireversibly the enemy of the other. And the conflict between Orcs rages on. And sometimes you just have to ignore the hard facts, like Malacath is there and Trinimac isn´t, but in the end, there is always one path you would choose. I would go with Trinimac - unless his followers are morons like Vosh Rahk in 2E.
You raise an interesting opinion nevertheless. Not understanding each side of the conflict only takes away the fun of seeing the bigger picture.

Karver the Lorc said: Also, speaking of Altmer (Altmer, not Thalmor) what exactly draws you to their Lore?
I like that their cities and land, even after all these centuries is largely a mystery. We only have the description of books and those books describe cities that are nothing like any buildings in the ES universe. They also have time. I always found that fascinating, which is why I love the juxtaposition of this race precisely with the Nords. Altmer can hone a craft for decades. Can you imagine practicing something for decades?
Yes, I am rather Harvey Dentish because I really admire both cultures, you can clearly see that when one reads Straag.
I do not know if I can choose yet and I think even some historical figures struggle with the choice as well. You get people like Shalidor who are almost Altmeri in their pursuit of knowledge, he is even has an Island there from what I understand. And then you have Henantier, an Altmer who went in the other direction. He is like the opposite spectrum of Shalidor, no? It fascnates me that even members of such enemy races can find the good and what is admirable enough that they choose to live like them.

Good folk, don't be swayed by elf logic. Once set down that path, it only leads to ruin. The wisdom of Shor is hard to grasp, but it fills the soul while the Aldmeri leaves an empty void where our hearts should be.

By the time I was getting to know TES lore I prefered the Dunmer's, and while I still like it I've found out that, surprisingly, my previous "nemesis" race now holds my lore favoritism and has also taken the first place from the Dunmer as my favorite race generally speaking: the Nords.

I'm a big fan of Nords and to no one's surprise: Argonians as far as cultures go. There's something about the Nord honorbound mentality that I can't quite shake off and the Argonians have simply trapped me in their net of mystery (damn you lizards!). And while I may occasionally dip into some of the other races these two will probably be amongs the ones I'll alway sreturn to.
Other than that I like to talk about Magic, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know shit about magic but I love to discuss it regardless. The same counts for metaphysics although only in lesser doses, it has a tendancy to confuse me after a while.
