UESP says that completing the Thieves Guild MQ before Under New Management can make Brynjolf not talk to you and start the ceremony, but the general Thieves Guild page says: If too many miscellaneous quests for Vex or Delvin have been completed before you become a Nightingale, Delvin may only give out one guild improvement quest. Once this quest has been completed, no matter how many quests you do you will not get another improvement quest.

You have to complete Dragon Rising before you can complete Message to Whiterun.  Balgruuf will not give you an answer until Dragon Rising has been completed.  When you talk to him he will tell you that he cannot be bothered with the war until this dragon business is dealt with, and then direct you to Farengar to start the Dragon Stone quest.  Once this quest and Dragon Rising are completed then Balgruuf will finally give you an answer allowing you to continue the Civil war.

I have played through the Thieves guild Main and Side quests many times and never ran into any problems.  I have completed the MQ then the side quests to become Guild Master, and I have also completed all of the Side Quests and then completed the MQ to become Guild Master.  Either way I never ran into a problem.  I play on Xbox 360 in case that matters.

If this is the wrong thread for a question like this please let me know Playing a pure warrior type on master, around level 25. No ranged attacks, no sneak. I have no problem with higher level drauger, bandits, or even one or two falmer at time. But I'm getting my ass kicked at Liar's Retreat. In the first room there's 7 falmer and 3 or 4 are gloomlurkers. I can completely absorb magic so that's not an issue. Their swords and arrows just hit for a ton, and I can't seem to kill any of them quick enough to keep me and my companion from getting surrounded. Any tips for dealing with multiple falmer like that? Is poison resistance super important? Or should I focus on getting my armor rating and attack super high? I tried and died a bunch of times last night, just wanna see if anyone has any tricks while I wait to play again
