Lots of good options.  All could be outstanding choices.  I went with Snowy Mountains because that's what I envision when I hear Skyrim.  Whiterun, while solid is only one settlement among many and I feel limits what Skyrim is.

While I like the warmth of the sunlight that I can see when at the top of the page, the sides just don't look that nice and since that's what people will be seeing most of the time I just don't think this one is that good. The snowey mountains was much better looking, and while people may like the Whiterun shot, from the looks of it Dragonsreach is going to be covered by the feed.

I second this opinion. As much as I love the light play at the top of this image the sides just aren't all that interesting. Loved those mountains though.

And now my decision gets even harder. This background is way better than expected, it especially works with the title really well, although it's a pitty that the stag gets covered. But I actually think I'm gonna stick with Sniwy Mountains for now, there's something about that picture that trumps this one for me.

Now that i've seen them all I think I like the Whiterun the best.  Was always leaning toward it since it's such an iconic part of the game.  I just wish that bird was actually a dragon.

This one actually didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, with almost everything apart from a small bit of Dragonsreach getting covered up. I do like the mountains in the backround, but I think the Snowy Mountains might have to get my vote (That little bit of Dragonsreach that does show up actually makes me like this one a bit less, to be honest).

Honestly, I'm cool with any of these, but since I can only vote for one, I will... after a quick coin toss between Snowy Mountains and Whiterun Hold xD

Okay, winner of my vote (after two out of three tosses) is Whiterun Hold.

And I'm glad it won. The two moons between craggy mountain peaks, the solitary bird, miniature elk, the hold's wall and rooftops on the right with Bleakfalls Barrow looming above them, and the treeline ridge and pathway on the left... all an open invitation to ramble on.
