I'd like to throw my support behind a series that looks at getting into digital art.
I am constantly amazed by the high quality pieces that one sees around the Internet and on this site, in fact its obvious that digital art has now developed into a fully fledged artistic genre in its own right.
I'm sure there are many - and I'm one of them - that would love to get started with this, but don't really quite know where to start or how to get going. I'm thinking about which apps or programs to use (not just Photoshop), whether you need a tablet (or an IPad), whether to invest in a decent stylus etc.
I'd really enjoy something like that

I've been thinking about this a little bit. I think the biggest thing is to open the group up to more forms of art. I, for one, never thought I would be involved with the Art group at all. I can't draw at all, and my GIMP/Photoshop skills are only slightly better than my drawing. If I hadn't stumbled across the screenshot thread and found a type of "photography", I would have completely avoided this group altogether.
I'm sure there are others out there like me, who maybe can't draw or take good photos, but maybe they can make good cosplay costumes, or they can perform decent music, or can make interesting sculptures, or write poetry, or... We should try to encourage and embrace all forms of art.

I agree that the art doesn't have to be directly related to Skyrim, but I think we also need to be careful to not stray too far from the overall identity of the site. This is The Skyrim Blog, after all, and there are better sites out there for sharing art in general.
I think the art posted here should have at least some vague connection to TES, Skyrim, Fantasy and Roleplaying in general. I don't think photographs of sports cars, for example, really fit in with the theme of the site. But drawings of landscapes, or sculptures of fantasy charcters (possibly from other games), cosplay photos, original music, and so on all definitely have a place.

Maybe we should make one thread for the build art editing. There's already 4 different threads for that. We could just make it into one and have multiple people working on that one thread.
