I'd like to throw my support behind a series that looks at getting into digital art.

I am constantly amazed by the high quality pieces that one sees around the Internet and on this site, in fact its obvious that digital art has now developed into a fully fledged artistic genre in its own right.

I'm sure there are many - and I'm one of them - that would love to get started with this, but don't really quite know where to start or how to get going. I'm thinking about which apps or programs to use (not just Photoshop), whether you need a tablet (or an IPad), whether to invest in a decent stylus etc.

I'd really enjoy something like that

Excellent. Happy to have your support. I'm already working on sketching tutorials. Drawing correct proportions and figures etc. Again anyone is free to add their own tutorials . If we get enough of these going well have quite a nice archive for emerging skyrim fan artists to use.

Non tes art work is totally welcome. With the right tags it can work. All art work is valuable. There's a lot one can learn and appreciate looking at art in matter what the topic.

Is anybody gonna give tips for photoshop? I for one would love to learn how to get better at it.

A few people were interested in doing just that. I myself will make sketching tutorials .

I've been thinking about this a little bit.  I think the biggest thing is to open the group up to more forms of art.  I, for one, never thought I would be involved with the Art group at all.  I can't draw at all, and my GIMP/Photoshop skills are only slightly better than my drawing.  If I hadn't stumbled across the screenshot thread and found a type of "photography", I would have completely avoided this group altogether.

I'm sure there are others out there like me, who maybe can't draw or take good photos, but maybe they can make good cosplay costumes, or they can perform decent music, or can make interesting sculptures, or write poetry, or...  We should try to encourage and embrace all forms of art.

I agree that the art doesn't have to be directly related to Skyrim, but I think we also need to be careful to not stray too far from the overall identity of the site.  This is The Skyrim Blog, after all, and there are better sites out there for sharing art in general.

I think the art posted here should have at least some vague connection to TES, Skyrim, Fantasy and Roleplaying in general.  I don't think photographs of sports cars, for example, really fit in with the theme of the site.  But drawings of landscapes, or sculptures of fantasy charcters (possibly from other games), cosplay photos, original music, and so on all definitely have a place.

You bring up a good point I overlooked. In the interests of stopping this from becoming deviantart 2.0 we probably should have some standard for what can be shown here. With that being said I think things like landscapes would be awesome in addition to fantasy and tes art. If anyone has other ideas to add to the list feel free to jot them down.

Maybe we should make one thread for the build art editing. There's already 4 different threads for that. We could just make it into one and have multiple people working on that one thread.

I agree. There should be a single thread for perk spreads, titles, and minor edits to graphics, screenshots, etc. If the volume gets high enough (unlikely at this point) each type of work could be separated into a different post.
