A question for all my fellow character builders:  I'm working on a RP-centric Snow Elf build where the concept is effectively... well, going against the grain of most every other Snow Elf build.  Specifically, in this instance, no frost magic; the idea is that the power is innate, and is channeled through weapons instead of cast as active spells.  I'm already looking at using Dukaan for the +25% frost damage, in addition to stalhrim weapons and the Frost Enchanter perk for additional +25% frost damage increases respectively.  If I want to maximize the frost damage, however, I'm going to need to dip into Destruction to take both Augmented Frost perks, which means getting Destruction to 60 -- and giving me +125% frost enchantment damage.

The question, though, is this:  should I perk Destruction when it's effectively wasting a perk in Novice Destruction, even though it would lead to an additional +50% frost enchantment damage bonus?  Or should I just stick with the +75% from Dukaan/Frost Enchanter/stalhrim weapons and call it good, seeing as how my only active spellcasting would be Alteration and Restoration (and there, predominantly Restoration)?  The build is looking to be level 65 when completed, which is a fairly lengthy playthrough given all the planned recommended quests and the like, and I was thinking of leveling Destruction anyway to get the most bang out of my buck in regards to enchantment charges.

Second question, unrelated to the above:  will there be a forum for work-in-progress builds like we had on Ning?

Is it going to be level 65 with or without the Destruction perks?

I'd say you would be fine without perking into destruction. Also we have the workshop on this site already. http://tamrielvault4.com/group/12

With Destruction -- if I don't do Destruction, I'll most likely place those three perk points into another skill (for instance, all three Magic Resistance perks in Alteration, which I'm already looking to take up a fair ways).

In that case, I would go with destruction. Also, sorry I didn't notice your second question there. :P

Yes it is.  But given that I'm planning to hit virtually every sidequest that touches on the Falmer and their history (between College of Winterhold, Dawnguard and Thieves Guild), as well as stuff like Lost to the Ages, The Book of Love, The Heart of Dibella and Azura's Star (though with it, I might go the Black Star route to be able to house any soul to recharge both weapons -- neither of which are ranged), among others... yeah, it's gonna be pretty big from a story standpoint.  But by the time it's all said and done, I'll also have completed the Main Quest and both DLCs (Hearthfire may be a DLC as well, but given that it basically adds only the ability to build your own home and adopt kids... well, I'll build my own home, but that's about it).

I have the preliminary build sketched out, but I'm gonna wait for Remastered (which I pre-ordered this past week) to come out before I begin play-testing it, so it'll be a while before this build sees the light of day.

Hey gang, is there anything that can be done to improve damage from a pick axe?  Any idea what the maximum damage might be for one?  Just trying to ascertain viability for that weapon...
