I absolutely love this guide. Everything in it is an amazing idea to roleplay a thief. One more thing, THANK YOU for realizing AND stating that there's a HUGE difference between an assassin and thief, it annoys me so much when people consider them the same thing. +1 like from me!

Thanks a ton!
A good idea, but I did that and still ended up with about 200 lockpicks. I also kind of like the idea of stocking up on picks with Tonilia between heists. It's a cool feeling of preparation.

Wow, thank you so much. Really glad people are finding this useful, I was honestly kind of afraid many people would think it was just common sense. The lack of distinction between those classes rustles my jimmies as well

Thanks so much! Glad to see true thieves are still alive and well in Skyrim.
In regards to your suggestion, I considered that, and I never loot two-handed weapons or heavy armor chest pieces, but I imagine, taking a big treasure backpack with you, you would be able to fit one-handed weapons. The low carry weight should assure you don't carry too unrealistic an amount.

Thanks everyone! I started replying to you all individually, but I got way more feedback than I expected, so I'll just throw out a blanket thank you. Glad I'm inspiring more thief characters, as that is what I set out to do. Thanks to Paul so much for featuring me, and if any of you are interested in the tales of the thief that inspired me to make this, check out my blog, The Leaf in the Wind. (said the shameless self-promoter)

Great guide. I use most of these when I'm playing a thief. I must admit, I do have trouble leaving loot behind, so I don't really limit my 'carry weight' as often as I should.
I have a 'tip' for picking locks: Take your time and Listen! By moving the lockpick back and forth (at different speeds) a few times, one can usually narrow down the possible 'sweet' spots to a few places. Try this, and with a little practice you'll find yourself breaking fewer and fewer lockpicks. Of course as your character's lockpick skill increases, this number will shrink even smaller.
