Yeah, that's what I remember. I'm on PC, but don't have the unofficial patch. Never recalled actually getting an enemy's Magicka transferred to me by using the staff.

Reminds me a lot of the Dragon Age Origins "mage breakers". Can't remember what they were called, but mages were treated sort of like nuclear bombs that no one knew when would explode, so there were constantly knights around to protect and, if necessary, kill the mages if they misused magic (ie. not for the good of the land).
Very nice build, and I love the big Templar pictures. If I may, though, to keep the Staff of Magnus filled (since it is such a soul gem eater), the Black Star and a dagger of soul trap will work just fine. Just trap those pesky Stormcloaks in between your mage killings.

My apologies, I've been playing with the Unofficial Skyrim patch lately expecting mostly bug-fixes. I'll update my long-ranged combat section. The changes shouldn't be that much anyway.

Awesome, that's kind of what I intended my character to be like, making sure magic was not used for the wrong purposes.
However I've NEVER played any Dragon Age games in the past so this is quite a coincidence.
And yes, I agree with your suggestion. I generally use the soul-trap spell and Black Star then switch to lightning spells to kill my soul-trapped enemies to continue my mage-killing spree. I'll add it to the build to make it clear thanks!
