Eh, this is far too complicated for me xD

I appreciate all the help but I'm going to wait and see if there is a deal on steam.

    Again, thank you!

Once you´ll get the hold of it, it is quite easy.

But having original game is surely better.

Is Hand-to-Hand reasonably powerful in Oblivion lategame-ish, or at least around the same as Blade/Blunt? I seem to remember reading that it was kinda weak later on.

Well it is somewhat weaker and you can´t enchant your fists with some cool fire damage or something. Though it has and enormous advantage that at later levels, almost every hit by fists drains your opponent´s Fatigue. Once he´ll hit a zero, he will pass out for few seconds.

Check the Crimson Scar or the Marsh Monk. Both use Hand-to-Hand as their main weapon.

Ok, thanks Karver. You can't fortify Hand-to-Hand above 100 either to get more damage, can you?

Nope, scaling for Hand-to-hand and for most skills stops and 100 for the skill and 100 for the attribute that it falls under, so at 100 strength and hand-to-hand the max damage is something like 11. You can boost the damage by fortifying Fatigue but that get's a little complicated and I don't fully understand it.

So you could make a spell of Fortify Fatigue and do more damage for the duration of it?

  • October 22, 2015

It should be noted that normally Hand to Hand damage maximum is 11 points, but by fortifying fatigue 200 points the total damage maximum goes up to 15 points. After that further fatigue increase does not improve damage output.

    That´s what UESP says.

If you want to go for Hand-to-hand, I would advise using Destruction, namely touch spells. You could call it an "Elemental Fist". I consider it quite immersive, if you want to play some kind of monk.

So it's probably not worth it for the magicka cost of a Fortify Fatigue 200.....Thanks Karver.

Yeah, for 4 damage it isn´t.

I myself never was a fan of hand-to-hand much, but it has it´s advantages. For example, it will never break. And that drain fatigue is really good too.

Plus Journeyman has 5% chance to disarm his opponents with sideways power attacks, but the truth is that it works more often than it seems. When I was playing it happened usually in 4/10 cases, which is a lot.

Add chance to knockdown and paralyze, and it certainly is viable. You will be just beating people a little bit longer than with a sword.
