    Part I : Introduction

Welcome, fellow Skyrim lovers, to the ultimate role-player's guide to Skyrim. Have you ever wanted to role play Skyrim, but don't know how? Do you want to find some mods that will help increase your immersive experience? Are you constantly abandoning old characters and making new ones? If your answer is yes to any of the previous questions than you've found the right place. In this guide, you will find previously unknown tips about improving your role playing experience. So stop making new characters or pondering about how to role play Skyrim, because once you have read this guide, you will be an expert. Without further ado, let us start!

     Part II: Character Creation

One of the most important parts of role playing is the creation of your character. When I just started playing Skyrim, I would often constantly make new characters because I got bored very quickly. I had not created any in-depth story and so I never really continued any of them. To truly be able to role play properly, your character needs to have a back story. Where was he/she born? Who was their father? Did they have any childhood friends? These are all important details because they mold and form your character. Your character's actions and decisions will change depending on their previous experiences. So here are a few questions to help you:

    What is your character's name?
Is your character male or female?
    How old is your character?
What are your character's religious belief?( worships stendar, talos, arkay etc.)
What are your characters political beliefs?( imperial or stormcloak)
    Describe your characters education.
Does you character work? Describe their job.
What is your characters most important relationship in their life?
What is your character's voice and accent( strong Nord accent, weak Nord accent etc.)
Describe what clothes you character usually wears.
What does your character want most?
What is your characters biggest fear?
What is your characters biggest flaw?
What grudges/prejudices does yoir character hold?
Does your character drink? In moderation or in excess?
Write a journal entry for your character
Write a timeline of the major events in your character's life.
Would you get along with your character if you met them in real life?
Write about a time your character made a big mistake.
What was your characters childhood life like?
What limiting beliefs are holding your character back?
If your character had a catch phrase, what would it be?
Is your character agreeable or a renegade?
If your character could have three wishes granted, what would they be
Is your character compulsive or careful?
What are your characters hobbies and interests?

     Sample character

    Name: Fardmir Shade-Song
    Race: Nord
    Gender: male
    Age: 35

Religious belief: He worships Stendaar, God of mercy and justice.

Political beliefs: Having lived in Cyrodiil, he does not dislike the Imperials. But he doesn't like that they are being controlled by the Thalmor. He will have to make a decision.

Education: He was born and raised in Dawnstar. The education in skyrim has never been good and the only ones who are properly educated are the sons of jarls or nobles. His father decided to teach him from home. His father was a scholar and worked for Jarl Skald the Elder, even though he disliked him. So they were well off and Fardmir's education was excellent.

Job: He worked as a mercenary in Cyrodiil. His job consisted mainly of fighting creatures and men alike that threatened the people. He did not take money from people without doing the work first. He was an honorable soldier.

Relationships: His relationship with his father was always strong because he was the only one he had. His mother died at childbirth and he had no brothers. He hasn't married yet.

Accent/voice: Has a Nord accent due to being raised in Skyrim although it is not as thick because he lived in Cyrodiil for a little while.

Clothes: When traveling wears his armor and since he was a mercenary this was his daily outfit. When doing odd jobs he wears working clothes.

How would I describe him to a friend?: He is proud, honorable and loyal.

What does he want most?: He wants to raise a family and he wants to rid the world of evil.

What is his biggest fear?: He fears being enslaved by the Thalmor and giant spiders.

What is his biggest flaw? His biggest flaw is impatience.

Grudges: He has a deep prejudice against high elves because of the thalmor.

Excessive drinking: Once upon a time he drank too much.

First Job: He first worked as a lumberjack. His employer was a retired warrior and since Fardmir's father had died he decided to teach him about fighting. This is where he learned to be a warrior, and then later on he became a mercenary.

Why did he move to Cyrodiil?: He moved to Cyrodiil because his father, who worked for Skald the Elder, disagreed with him about the civil war. They escaped so they would not be executed.

Why he went back to Skyrim(beginning of game): He went back because he accidentally killed his friend while he was drunk. After that he couldn't bear to stay in Cyrodiil.

His birthday: The 11th of last seed.

Hobbies: He loves to relax by the water and do some fishing. He loves to read. He loves horseback riding and often develops very close bonds with his horses.

    Part III: Gameplay

Basic Rules: what to do in-game to increase immersion:

    Eat/ Sleep
These are basic things that help increase immersion. You can't go through the whole week without eating, can you? Try to eat the regular three meals a day. Also, try and sleep at night. When you're wandering through the wilds of Skyrim and you meet an inn, why don't you stay for a night to rest your tires bones.

    Read books
Books are awesome!!! Every time before your character goes to sleep try and read one of those rare volumes you picked up during your travels. Have you ever visited Whiterun? Before visiting, why don't you read the Gentleman's guide to Whiterun?

    Stay in character
Above all, don't do things that are contrary to your characters nature. If you're playing as a man who hates the thalmor, don't watch their patrols pass by without doing anything! Again, if you're character is an evil person, don't do what a good person would do.

    Stop and smell the flowers
Skyrim has breathtaking scenery that should not be ignored. Try stopping once in a while to observe Skyrim's beautiful land.

I used to fast travel, then I took an arrow to the knee
Dont fast travel! Even though it is a magical land, I'm pretty sure you can't teleport. Try and travel everywhere on foot or by horse. At the least take a carriage.

    Encumbrance
How many people do you know that can carry three sets of armor on theif back? Try and keep a realistic amount of stuff with you. This really is for hardcore role players but try it out and see what you think!

     Sample book to read

    An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim

Far too often, noble visitors from Cyrodiil see little more of Skyrim than the view from their carriage. To be sure, this coarse, uncivilized province is far from hospitable, but it is also a place of fierce, wild beauty, with grand vistas and inspiring natural wonders awaiting those with the will to seek them out and the refinement to truly appreciate them. If you are of a mind to see Skyrim for yourself, I recommend beginning your adventure as I did, by seeking out Stones of Fate. No doubt you are taken aback by the name, as I once was. The provincials and village folk have all manner of dark tales about these ancient monuments. Stories of necromantic rituals and fell spirits, of great and terrible powers conferred on any who dare to touch them.
The stories are, as Jarl Igrof once told me, "Are a load of mammoth dung." A bit uncouth, but you get the point.
To be sure, keep your guards with you at all times - brigands and wild animals are never to be taken lightly. But the stones themselves are nothing to fear. Quite the contrary, their proximity to cities and roads makes them ideal destinations for the novice explorer, and many boast spectacular views that make the journey well worth the effort. To whet your appetite, here are four such locations:
Most travelers enter Skyrim by way of Helgen, "Gateway to the North." If you find yourself in this backwater hovel, consider taking an afternoon's ride to the north, keeping to the road as it winds down the cliffs at the eastern end of Lake Ilinalta. Just off the path, on a small bluff, lie the three Guardian Stones, the greatest concentration of standing stones in all Skyrim. The view of the lake here at sunset is simply sublime.
Visitors from Cheydinhal will pass through Riften, city of intrigue and larceny since Tiber Septim's day. If you seek adventure in the Rift, leave the city by the southern gate and cast your gaze upon the bluff that rises to the south. Atop it sits the Shadow Stone, a fitting symbol for the city of thieves.
Whiterun is the heart of Skyrim, its towering palace rivaling even the great castles of Cyrodiil. But should you tire of the Jarl's hospitality, another adventure awaits a few hours to the east of the city, along the road that rises above White River Gorge. The Ritual Stone can be found atop the lone hill that rises on the north side of the road, set into an ancient monument. Take time to soak in the incredible view of Whiterun, the tundra, and the gorge from this unique spot.
More seasoned explorers may wish to visit Markarth, the ancient city of stone far to the west. The recent Forsworn Rebellion has made travel in the Reach perilous, but for those determined to seek adventure no matter the cost, another stone can be found to the east of the city, perched on the mountain above Kolskeggr Mine. Though the climb is difficult, reaching the summit is a milestone any explorer could be proud of.There are other Stones of Fate to be found in Skyrim - I myself have seen several more, perched on the most remote mountain
peaks, or wreathed in fog amid the northern marshes. But the true joy of exploration is in the discovery, and so I leave the rest to you. May the Eight guide your steps.

Hey Decumus, welcome to Role-Play! This is a good first contribution to the group, though it could made even better with some pictures to help break up the text and formatting to help readability. I see you've already added a picture as an attachment, but if you want it to show up in your post, then go here in the text editor:

Just follow the upload instructions and choose what justification you want the picture to be (though it will always post on the same line as your cursor). If you have any questions or would like any help, please feel free to message me :)
