I don't know if this has been posted before but I found an efficient way to level up Restoration early. In Bleak Falls Barrow, there's two halls with axes coming out of them. Stay in fron of one, dual cast healing and see your skill go up real fast. When out of magicka, rest then repeat.
However, you'll probably catch more diseases than a cheap whore so you might want to bring a cure disease potion along or wait until you cleared the area.
*Edit : I've read somewhere (maybe it was on this site) that the Regeneration perk slowed down the skilled progression. I'm not sure if that's true, but it did seem slower when I came back to raise the skill again while having that perk.

Nope!
The best restoration/character strengthening method I've found is...
There are a number of skeletons wandering the level and they can actually hit pretty hard, combined with all the mages dagger attacks you can level restoration and armor skills very quickly...

you would either need regneration perk or fast healing or close wounds mason so both ways would slow it down a lot more than it would actually level you. That would work if you had the atherial crown so you can select mage and atronach

JoDk good job on that and for armour skill I would go to illanitas deep and do masons method but I would use your method for restoration and you wouldnt need to carry cure disease potions because you can just shoot down the hawks around whitrun and hawk feathers first effect is cure disease no alchemy perks or alchemy perks
