Not every new member to Tamriel Vault is used to the environment of Blogs and Community groups such as ours and the experience can be intimidating. A lot of members here tend to take certain things for granted like for instance the knowledge for setting up links. It's one of those small things we all do without thinking about and as we do it as a matter of fact then we all presume everyone else can.

We all hear it often said to members.

"Set a Link to this. Add a Link to it. You need to link that piece with this one. Don't forget to link your blog post to your TOC".

When is the last time anyone here asked this question though?

"Do you KNOW how to link your Blog Post to your TOC?"

I'm not sure if I have either.... I can never recall asking that particular question. So I decided to make this. My first time in Tamriel Vault I certainly didn't know how to set out links. I hope this helps close the gap between new members and older ones.

I'm going to use The Story Corner as an example as it is most relevant to me.

So you have written your Blog Post and you wish to link it to your TOC. (Table of Contents page). Just how do you do it though?

    1. Open your Blog Post or whatever it is you wish to have linked. At the top of the page you will see the URL address. ( http:// ) You will need to 'copy' the entire line of this address. This is important because if you only have a part of it then the link won't know where to go to and it won’t work.

    2. Now you have the address copied, you will need to go to your TOC (or the discussion where you want the link, your Profile Page ect). At the top of your post you will see a box called Options. Open this box and click on Edit Post.

    3. Now you will see various options. You will see things like...

Add: Link  Image  Media  Paste as Plain Text File

Go to the section of you TOC (or what ever it is you are working on) where you wish to add your link and position the key indicator (That black line which shows where you are typing) where you wish the Link to be placed.

    4. Once you are happy with the position, next to the Add: is the Link option. Click on it.

You will see a box with:

    Add Link

    Link Text

    Link URL

Where it says Link URL, you need to paste the address you copied from your Blog Post.

Where it says Link Text, you can add a title for your link. Once you have done this then you click on 'OK'. With some luck and providing I haven’t screwed these instructions up then you will have a link.

You can select the link as you would any piece of text and change its size or color if you so wish. You can also rename it or change the address should you need to do so.

I hope this helps those who are unsure on the wonders and mysteries of the.... LINK.

Well it is one of those thinge we never really think about untill a new member joins. The poor deer (deer not dear) is told to link something and yet we never explain the process. Glad this came in useful William.
