     My Thoughts

As I poked my way around the blog, I have noticed that alot of these builds consist of things that you would find in Skyrim. Like Pilgrims, War Lords, Vampire Hunters, Assassins, and Mages. But I have only seen one other pirate build. And that build was the Marauder Build by Sanctus, go check it out its pretty cool. That is what inspired me to make another Pirate build. So without any further things to say. I present to you.....

          The Pirate Lord

Tell me, Do you feel dead....

          Back Story

All that you remember is that you and your crew hit a reef somewhere off Solitude. And now you are laying on the beach, feeling exhausted and drained of all energy. Your head is throbbing with pain, you must have hit it on a rock when you fell overboard. You are confused and disorientated. As you are straining to remember what has happened, you see a piece of parchment laying in the sand. As you crawl your way to it, you see that it is one of the ten treasure maps that you own, that is, before they were stolen from you. That is the reason that you and your damned crew have sailed to this wretched place, to reclaim what was rightfully your's. All that you carry with you is your Hunting Bow, which your father crafted for you before he died trying to defend your home from the barbarians know as the Nords, and your saber, which you forged out of pure steel for yourself, that is, after you fix up your face.

The thief was part of an order known as the Dark Brotherhood, you have heard of their reputation as assassins. But what puzzles you is that what would a guild of assassins want with a treasure map. That is what you have come to figure out. Now as you lay on the side of the beach, the wreckage of your beloved BrineHammer scattered across the shore, you feel the warm, and familiar, feeling of blood trickle down your face. You need to get to help, and fast, before you bleed-out on this god forsaken shore! You see some lights up ahead, it looks as if there is a settlement somewhere nearby. Only one way to find out. Your name is Monias, and you are out for revenge.

                                                                        STATS

Race: You are a scallywag and a Pirate Lord , so Redguard or Imperial would fit perfectly, but feel free to choose for your own path.

Stats: 2/2/3, the reason behind 2 for magicka, is so that you, if you choose to, will be using Alteration because you won't be wearing any armor.

Major Skills: Alteration, One Handed, Restoration, Archery

Minor Skills: Block, Alchemy   Smithing, Speech, lockpicking

The reason for my skill choices for this build is that, for one if you are not planning on using armor, you will need alteration for protection, and one handed for using you curved saber, and restoration because you will need to heal your self ALOT. I choose alchemy because, you are a pirate for crying out loud, you don't play fair. So you might as well double check that your opponent is dead by adding a bit of poison to you saber. And with you razor sharp reflexives, you can bounce you opponents attacks straight off you saber. And you will want to keep your saber sharp so that is why I added smithing. You are a deceiver and can influence people with your words, that is why I added speech.

Stone: Thief or Warrior at first, then move onto the Lady Stone

Shouts: Disarm, Elemental Fury, Marked for Death

    Gear

Clothing: Hammerfell Garb, Mourner's Hat, Cuffed Boots

                Weapons: Hunting Bow and Scimitar

    Gameplay

The best way to play this build is to cast and alteration spell and poison your sword before you charge into battle. Using your saber in your right hand and heal in your left, heal your self while you are cutting your foe to pieces, because lets face it, magic will only protect you for so long. Use this technique for most of your battles, unless you are fighting dragons or anything bigger then the common bandits and draugr. When you fight anything like a dragon, use your Hunting Bow to gain you the advantage of range and when the enemy comes within range of your saber, run him through and loot his corpse. Your speed is legendary, it is said that you can even deflect arrows, us this superior speed and stamina your advantage to exhaust your opponent till he is drawing for breath with every swing. And when the time comes, separate their head from their worthless body.

    Roleplay

You don't have a distinct hatred to any one race. But if you had to choose which you hate the most. It would be the dammed Nords. Their pride and stupidity has blinded them in this fight against the Empire for control of Skyrim. Mind you that you are not overly found of the Empire, they have imprisoned you many times before, but who are you... Well your Pirate Lord Hemik. But the nords are the people that you hate for one reason and one reason only; they killed your mother and father during the raid know as "Day of Dark Sun", because it is said that the amount of bloodshed was enough to blot out the sun. You were there and you can confirm these rumors. And you will see to it that they suffer for their acts of murder. The new port on the edge of Solitude has brought a great amount of gold flowing through your ship and crew. You like to raid the trading ships and take what you can and get out. As a former farm boy, you have no trouble with manual labor. You are fit as an ox, and you don't mind working for some coin on the local farms. You also do a bit of bounty work for the local Jarl. But you would rather be out there looking for your maps. And one day you will have your revenge on the dark brotherhood. You will see to it that their heads shall be mounted on spikes. They will pay.  You mind to yourself alot, and could careless about others. Your hatred and thirst for revenge has hardened your heart. You are Monias, Pirate Lord.

The concept is similar to the marauder build we have on this site. Your concept isn't bad, but your presentation needs more in depth explanation, you should add a roleplay section and most importantly a more in depth gameplay section. How do you fight in open combat, how do you keep your sword sharp if your not taking smithing? These are things you should explain more. Also not everyone is a PC user so they don't have access to mods, give more options for those who don't have mods. Skills like block should not be taken for this kind of character, if your using restoration and alteration, you don't wanna have to keep on switching to a shield. Oh, and add some special moves will you :) Oh and you can't like your own build ;)

Alriught, first off, welcome! Nice to see you around so let's get stuck into this critique.

First of all, NEVER use comic-sans. Just use the default fonts, it's plain and doesn't look kiddie for a build. Even we are not professionals, we as builders want to pass as that. SO, stick with the plain font and don't increase the size either, unless it's for headings. It just makes it look like you're trying to say there's more to your build then what there actually is.

Second, your backtory is actually decent. No cliques and tells us everything we need to know - You're a pirate who's seeking his lost maps and hates assassins.

Races now. Why those two? If you're going to tell us a race say WHY. For example, "Redguard, since it gives us a boost to our skillset and they are known to be seafaring warriors."

Skills. Why sneak? Pirates are tend to be 'in-your-face' fighters (and don't you dare mention Edward Kenway as an example! :P) not sneaky backstabbers. What perks did you take? Without them, we have NO IDEA on how to do this character! You should have at least two spreads, one of halfway and a final one.

Your gameplay section is... Missing. What tactics do we use in battle? Do we sneak and backstab before casting a flesh spell? What do we do against dragons? Mages? Archers? Vampires? You need to tell us how to fight and how to play otherwise we got no idea what to do with our pirate lord. What quests do we do? Is he a good guy or a bad guy? We can't play this if we don't know what to do after Helgen!

Gear... This is modded, I'm assuming? Since there is no pistols, sabres or sea-dog armor in vanilla Skyrim. If you're going to use modded gear, I suggest you either post a warning before everything else that this uses modded gear OR post an alternative. As awesome as mods are, 80% of the community plays on PC. Modded builds aren't disallowed, but aren't well received due to the lack of PC players. My suggestion for armor would be ragged trousers, Redguard boots, hide bracers and mourner's cap, along with dual-wielding scimitars.

Well, this started out well but it is WAYYYY too short to be playable. Presentation is decent, but can be improved with some pretty headings, screenshots, better artwork, smaller text and NO COMIC SANS. We are also missing a lot of needed information, like perks, gameplay, tactics, quests and roleplay.

I highly suggest you head on over to the Help Desk and Guides to learn what the standard for builds here as well as checking out the Exemplar, Mythic and Legendary categories.

    Good luck!

Hey LT, let me first say welcome to the Blog!

I'm sorry to say, but this needs a lot of work. There isn't too much information here. There is a lot more detail that you can go into. Try implementing a perk spread and in depth explanations for your skills and perks. As far as the equipment goes, this is primarily console playing community. I think it is around 5-10% that play on PC. With that said, there is nothing wrong with using and mentioning mods, but you should also have an alternative for those people who do not play on PC. And likewise, then explain those choices. You should also include a a description of the gameplay. Like how you roleplayed, how combat typically went, etc. You really have to sell us your idea and to do that you have to be descriptive.

I hope that gives a good idea of what we are looking for around here. If you need more information, check out the character build guides and the higher ranking builds in the Legendary and Mythic categories.

Also, Don't like your own build and add some actual depth to the pirate lord :| The build has potential, but not how it is.

Aight, thank you all for your help. I do admit that i kinda started this with no clue how to do it, i just felt like doing it so i guess i should have waited. Sorry if i messed up alot, but now i know what to do in the future. I guess i should probebly just leave the build making to you guys. I will just stick with my lets plays haha. Thanks again for the feedback. Cya

    Hi LT,

I don't mean to speak for the others, but the criticism everyone has offered thus far is constructive. The notion that you should "just leave the build making to [those] guys," implies that you have some semblance of respect for their work, which should transitively imply that you also respect their ideas. That being said, you shouldn't simply give up, because most everyone that has commented thus far believes this build has potential.

Very few people, if any, make a Legendary, or even a Mythic, build their first time around. I myself am not a very accomplished builder, but I can tell you right now that no accomplished builder became 'accomplished' overnight. My advice would be to take their advice; to polish up the build as best you can, and then implement their suggestions on your next build.

Since everyone else has already welcomed you to the site, I'd just like to say that I hope you stick around, and good luck!

You are right about the fact that i do have alot of respect for those people, and i do respect there ideas. And i do plan on making a new build, i just plan on waiting a while and learning more about this. And thank you for your confidence in me. I guess i will try to make a completely new build in a month or so

    Exactly like Bruccius said!

Don't just give up. We didn't want to scare you or chew your head off. Just giving suggestions on what to work on so you can fix it up and so down the road your next build will be even better. Its not like you did everything wrong. You have a good idea, you just need to put a little more work into it, or at least into the write up. I hope to see more good ideas from you in the future.

Even if you stopped using Comic Sans, I'll consider liking it...
