Eh, I'm probably going to lump in all my ideas and suggestions at once rather than one at a time. And as usual some will be half rambling-half suggestion.
Idea 1: Snapshot Discussions + Purpose of Group?
Ah, would this be a good place to relocate the Snapshot Discussions? They seem to fit in with the whole, trying to get them a group without burying stuff in the Forums idea (plus it could lead to more screenshots.). I dunno, my idea of the Gateway is that it seems to be for the stuff that belongs in more than one place but if that's not the case then just skip on down to the next idea.
Idea 2: Tagging
Second on my list, is tagging. Once the group picks up a bit how would we look at the ever-important task of sorting everything into groups? My first thought was based on content type (Elder Scrolls related content goes in ES, Fallout in Fallout, Art in Art, etc.) as a base, and maybe work in some things like Site Updates, Site Polls, Site Feedback (Depends if we want that here or in the Forums still), etc. Separate the general stuff, news and other stuff. Obviously tagging isn't important right now because the Tags are invisible (have we ever figured that out? it's really becoming a hassle) but if we ever get our tags back it'll become a real issue down the line.
Idea 3: Site Chat and Update Chats
Would this be a good place to hold the Site Chat? I know we don't just throw it up like we used to because some people had troubles accessing the site at all while it's up, but if we could confine that kind of chat into a single area (this group) it'd probably help significantly, all you'd have to do is not come here. While I'm speaking of Chats, perhaps there could be a chat open to discuss Site Updates...I dunno, I can see the flaws to the idea, but it'd feel like a more personal form of communication between the Members and Hosting team, and it'd allow for a bit more discussion, at the moment we're stuck with people either saying next to nothing, or posting massive comments that can take half an hour just to read through properly. The second comment wouldn't really happen in a chat based group so it might allow more responses from whoever's running the update idea.
Idea 4: Site Information and Front Page
What about moving the Site Information into the group, stuff like Site Hosts, Rules and the Help Thread seem to be completely missed up in that tab (I don't think most people know the Site Help Thread exists...I know I don't get many updates from it) and it could be useful if that was all in here. Of course, that'd also need to reflect some changes into how this group is promoted...Possibly as SUPER IMPORTANT as a tab 
or would it be possible to have a permanent link to the group at the top of the front page (well....A link and little blurb for the group about it being the best place to start).
Idea (kinda) 5: 5th Anniversary Posts
Now this is more question. But please tell me those 5th anniversary posts are going to move to this group soon...Or at least start being posted here. As awesome as the 5th anniversary is, it's kind of cramping up the front page, and taking up the Blog Room if I'm not mistaken? (can't see them anywhere else) which seems to majorly be effecting Blogs at the moment.

I'll talk it over with the other Admins and see what they think about maybe giving it a little bit more prominence. I think a lot of front page features might link here in the future, so we'll see how things shake out and maybe fiddle around with the location down the road.
