    Before You Read

This character is one of the people I played in New Vegas with the intention of using him in the Live Roleplaying: Fallout group. Because of this, some of his backstory may not seem to make sense. If you have questions about him then feel free to ask, but you could also find out for yourself by joining the group he's used in! I have a lot of fun using him in both Fallout and LRP, and he's my usual go-to character to play as.

“Trust me, I didn’t always look this bad.”

    Backstory:

Vincent “Vinny” Thompson was born in a small town in Northwestern Ohio. His family did not have a lot of money, but they did own a small computer and robot repair shop that they called “Nuts and Bolts.” This shop mainly repaired home robots and computer terminals, though they occasionally would fix up laser-based weaponry and security systems. Vincent loved to work in his family’s shop, and he aspired to take it over someday. Unfortunately, this day came far too soon when the unexpected death of Vincent’s father forced him to take the reigns.

As Vincent grew, so did the shop. More and more people began to come to the store, increasing Vincent’s wealth and, subsequently, his personal vanity. He began to dress in expensive tailored suits; he bought advanced security systems for his home; and he began to live the lifestyle of a wealthy bachelor. One day, as Vincent was working on one of his home’s “Mister Gutsy” security robots, the robot’s energy pistol misfired. The blast disfigured Vincent, leaving his face badly scarred. This lead to him becomes a depressed recluse, and he often ended his days with a bottle of scotch. Vincent refused to leave him home. His business went bankrupt, his “friends” stopped contacting him, and even his own security system betrayed him (as the cameras and robots couldn’t recognize the disfigured face).

In 2077, when the bombs began to fall, Vincent refused to take shelter. He stayed in his home, waiting and longing for death. However, the radiation from the blasts did not kill Vincent. Instead, his body began to mutate. His muscles and ligaments began to deteriorate, his mind began to lose its once-sharp edge, and his flesh became even more disfigured. However, Vincent lived on. For years he did little to nothing, hoping that he would one day succumb to his wounds. However, he did not. Vincent took this as a sign. Instead of sulking inside of his home, he left. He began to venture out more, adjusting himself to the post-war world.

After the war, there was crime. A lot of it. Bandits and Looters became extremely common, and Vincent always did what he could to turn them away from his house. Years of defending his former home made Vincent proficient with all forms of weaponry. As word of his skill spread through the wastes, many people began seeking “Vinny the Ghoul” to try and convince him to help take care of their problems.

Nowadays Vinny wanders the Wastes in search of anyone who needs to hire a gun. Whether you're collecting on a debt or just need someone to watch your back, you can always count on Vinny the Ghoul to lend a deteriorating hand (for a price, of course).

Never did get to interact with a ghoul in FLRP, but Vincent seems like a pretty awesome character.

I can't help but feel like I've seen Vinny before. Did you ever write a Skyrim-ized profile of him, or maybe I just remember him from my (brief) time in the FO LRP group when it was first beginning. Either way, he sounds like a fantastic character. If he was an in-game NPC or even a possible companion, he'd probably be my favorite to bring along!

You may have seen him in the NPC page for that group, but that's all I've shared of him.

He's a great character, and when I use him in LRP it's so funny because he's such a dick

Yeah, yeah, yeah! I kinda thought I remembered reading him not as a player character. Thanks, that was kind of bothering me, not remembering.

Gotta love playing a jerk. I struggle with that when playing in-game (unless its someone who's just straight-up psychotic) but in writing, it's SO fun!

It really is! I'm glad that Fallout LRP is picking up so that I can use him more.
