As part of the Halloween Seventeen Event, I was inspired to go through with my desire to create a mercenary that specialized in both men and the supernatural. Equipped with speed and strength, the Hunter is a class daring to delve into anything. From taking out a notorious bandit leader to finding himself in a castle full of vampires, this is the mercenary to call when money isn't an issue.

" A day's work is not without its fun"

Darkness descends over Whiterun. The Bannered Maid is filled to the brim with the usual customers retiring from the day, normally to have a few beers and perhaps chat over the latest gossip. It was prime time. An unofficial happy hour for the people of Whiterun to cut loose for the day. After an hour or two of the endless chatter and drunken brawls, a leather-clad man strode into the overpopulated tavern. He was armed with a steel sword on his right hip and a silver one on the left. His leather tabard was weathered and tailored to drape towards the mid-thigh section, layered over a worn shirt. The man had an air about him that appeared to be a mix of mystery with a dash of arrogance.

"Curious fellow there," said a particularly superstitious man over a fresh sip of mead. He had been sitting with a friend in the right corner of the building. "A sellsword with silver. What's a man need with that?".

"They say he hunts both man and undead. That silver supposedly puts down those fairy tale beasts." his friend replied.

"Does he realize Skyrim is filled with sellswords? Why does Skyrim need one more?"

"Because none hunt those that are believed to be invincible."

"To be a hunter, you need to know the lore"

    *Requires Ordinator Perks Mod*

To put it simply, the Hunter is based off the rogue and demon hunter archetypes. Light armor's unrivaled speed is taken advantadge of to the fullest extent. With this build, you rely more on your ability to dodge and time blocks well rather than be a damage sponge. With Ordinator, One Handed without dual wielding is extremely viable and offers an entertaining form of combat.

The Hunter hinges on getting the first strike. Critical damage plays a big role in countering high-health targets and increasing the overall DPS. And when he needs to kick off a battle with a kill or two, the bow is often his first choice. It also functions as an initial poison dealer as well as means to pick off a few enemies before he decides to go in and get up close and personal. Whenever the Hunter finds himself in a fight with men, he uses the Scout Sword to take them out. And when dealing with the supernatural Daedra or undead, he uses Silver Sword to ensure they don't come back. A Hunter's arsenal never was supposed to be too fancy......

The perks here are rather straightforward. The combination of skills synergizes well with each other for a lightly armored rogue playstyle.

One Handed: The primary source of damage. Rogue's Parry is by far the most important perk here.

Archery: The secondary DPS for the Hunter. Archery is used to take down pesky dragons and any other winged devils.

Block: Even though you should be dodging most attacks, it's impossible to do in a long and drawn out fight. Block is used to counter that.

Lockpicking: Bear traps are the only thing really required here. This essentially opens up a route of escape as well as an amazing counterplay towards the larger monsters you may encounter.

Light Armor: Light Armor not only keeps you alive, but also increases your mobility, thanks to Ordinator. This speed is the backbone of the Hunter's survivability.

Alchemy: Being often found in the wilderness, it's a requirement for a Hunter to posess at least a basic understanding of alchemy. And while poisons are pretty uneffective against undead, they're quite the opposite on mortals.

The armor for the Hunter looks good yet offers great protection. Not having a helmet is perfectly viable due to the Keen Senses perk in the Light Armor Tree. Xbox One and PC users will want to use the Manticore Armor full set. As for PS4 players, Linwe's entire set will be your best option. Both armors offer great protection.

    To be continued.......

Thanks, Paws! I'm nearly finished with my playthrough, so I can guarantee this build will be finished :p More updates will be coming shortly. I'll also have the usual normal "updated etc" comments. And of course, constructive criticism is always welcome and requested.

Small update on the build section. Just a general summary as to what the playstyle entails. I plan on expanding on it as well as adding another screenshot and perkspread by tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing any feedback.

I like the concept of this high-mobility and single sword fighter. Remind me, what Ordinator perks make keeping one hand free a different experience?

Thanks, Paws! Good question on that last bit. One handed sword combat is really viable with Ordinator due to the Rogue's Parry perk: "When wielding a one-handed weapon and an empty other hand, attacking with the weapon while the opponent is winding up their attack or drawing a bow deals 40% more damage and delivers a critical strike. To my surprise, it was much easier to hit someone in the middle of an attack than what I thought it would be. The massive damage normally leads to a one-hit kill on normal enemies. To counteract this from being overpowered, you won't have a high armor rating or health pool, making you quite susceptible to a unblocked attack, should you decide to get that bonus damage instead of blocking it.

yeah, I've been wanting to try Ordinator for a long while now. I get it installed and then I get overwhelmed by the choices.

I felt the same way. It's pretty overwhelming, but man, it really does offer the versatility that vanilla Skyrim perks only dreamed to have.
