Your Favorite Thing about Daggerfall?

In the few years since the Classics group was created I've seen many discussion relating to both Morrowind and Oblivion, but none that were about Daggerfall. I thought it was about time that changed, and so I present to you the first ever Daggerfall discussion!

Daggerfall, released way back in 1996, was the second "Chapter" of the Elder Scrolls series and although it may be old, it does feature a ton of things to do. Things such as Climbing, joining Knightly Orders, and being able to end the Main Questline in six possible ways..

But out of all the many features of the game, my favorite has to be the sheer size of the map. With a game world of over 160,000 square kilometers (Nearly half the size of Great Britain) and with over 15,000 different settlements, it can easily be described as one of the largest Elder Scrolls games ever.

What about you? What is your favorite thing about this old, yet still entertaining game?

I like its character creator and its version of The Real Barenziah.

It does have a rather nice Character Creation system. I also liked that you didn't start as a prisoner, which was a nice change.

I haven't played much Daggerfall actually, I downloaded it to try it out but I just havent felt like playing it anymore.

Daggerfall actually had flails, as two handed blunt weapons. I thought they were pretty neat. Also the character creator is interesting, you can select combat bonuses/penalties against certain enemy types, select time of day based bonuses/penalties (like not being able to cast magic in the dark), among other things. Also the melee swings being based on the mouse movements was kinda cool.

I remember guards trying to kill me for waiting inside a city so the shops would be open... I thought it would've been okay since its a normal thing to do in TES games, but apparently in the Illiac Bay region its illegal. Walled cities also close at night, and waiting outside the gate prompts guards to attack you (because being near the city counts as within the city), so you have to climb the wall instead.

I also tried not using fast travel, it was a horrible idea.
