Seeing as Steam are having a sale on FO i've decided to download it for my pc. Previosuly i've only ever played it on 360 so i have no experience with mods.
I was wondering if I should install mods, and if so which ones? I dont want to break my game by downloading ones that arent compatible! Also does the Nexus Mod Manager work at installing mods into a Steam game?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
Nexus Mod Manager works at installing mods to the steam version of the game as well. I don't know if it automatically detects the Fallout 3 folder in that case but if it doesn't you just have to select it and everything should be fine.
And what a coincidence, I was just downloading mods to get Fallout 3 ready for another run. I shall place the mods for FO:3 I'm tracking and downloading at the moment here.

Warning, I haven't tested how these work together yet, but normally there shouldn't be to many issues. Some mods will probarly also conflict with eachother but there are many compatibility patches and if you follow the instructions there shouldn't be too many problems.
I also want to make clear that not every mod will be installed correctly with nexus mod manager. You see the option to download with nexus mod manager everywhere but that doesn't mean that the folder structure of the mod is correct for it to work. If a mod contains a data folder when you unpack it it should install fine with NMM but otherwise you will probarly end up with some misplaced folders and broken mods. If you see folders named Textures, Meshes or Sound in your Fallout 3 base folder you should place them in the data folder, those are the most common issues you can have with Fallout 3 mods. These issues occur because many of the mods where made before the release of NMM and haven't been adapted to it.
I think it's just bother Emer for some reason. Anyway, there's already a Fallout centered site called "No Mutants Allowed". I've strolled their forums quite a few times and all they have are whiners, complainers, trolls, and all other unsavory types. I'd hate for us to attract some of those unwanted people over to our group <shudders at the thought>
Another great quest mod is Cube Experimental - http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/6270/
