Workshop Commenting Event

  • August 11, 2017

Your right Phil, I buggered it up and it's actually 60 for you (which does count the Moon Bishop and the Aspirant). When I was counting it all I accidentally posted the 10 for finishing content in Relycs' line instead so it counted upwards from 46 instead of 50. I mean, you have posted 2 builds, finished one piece of content and...well I've got you down for 12 major comments on pieces of work but it's a bit hard to hunt them all down.

I've always been fine with revamps Phil (in terms of things like this), and always counted them as proper bits of content. It's why you can find some Workshop Success Stories based off of revamps of builds. Honestly, I could be convinced to give half for revamps from now on, adding it on as an ammendment to the Event but really... Your producing content (that for many people is new) and your doing some major revamps to it that change how the build is percieved. The blogs, eh I won't fight you on them if you are just reposting them but yeah, content revamp = content in my eyes.

I do apologize for missing a fair amount of time lately guys. A combination of my internet being shit (only for me obviously...everyone else had great internet) and having to help my younger brother with his homework for about 6 hours today...yeah apparently he decided to leave two assignments until this weekend to even begin...for his worst subjects.

Right, anyway. So what's my count. Phil is winning at 60, then Relycs at 46 followed by...Hah a tie for third place with Zonn and Liss at 38 a piece. Wulf could rather easily catch up to be fair since he's only a few comments and a finished piece of content away from beating the two of them and he's had about 4 different pieces in here lately. Legion is also within a reasonable enough range at 20 points so it's not set in stone by any means.

Oh and Sotek managed to pass me last night but I'm in the lead by 2 points for now. I am aiming to write a few more Tips on...not sure, ah I've got an Axe tip to write and a Dual-Wielding tip as well to just 'finish my collection there' but other then that, well there's nothing that really interests me. Maybe Traps? Ooh fuck me yeah that'll be awesome. You've got oils and bear traps, alright that's it.

Expect a War-Axe, Dual Wielding and a Traps T&T article this weekend (going for all three tommorow...yeah that'll be easy (not).

Ah since I'll be heading out again today for 6 or so hours, I figured that I might as well run another flash event today. I want to make something a little different but I'll rather just post a few little challenges that maybe some people will join in on. Each of the challenges will be worth 8 points but there are a few other things that I'll be running here.

If you've been a member of the Workshop for (any time) then let me know in 100 words or less (or more) about what your favourite WiP ever created by someone else was. Oh and you have to tell me why not just say ______

If you've finished your own content, tell me in the same number of words (around 100 or so) what your favourite completed WiP is. That's your own WiP not someone else's.

Finally all comments are worth twice as much (4 points) and if you post a WiP that is a different type of content to what you've already posted in this Event (including any WiP if you haven't posted anything) will be worth twice as many points.

So I've been very busy.  Real life mostly and then pumping out three builds here recently that I wrapped up (Two for the FO event and then my Predator build which has been in the Workshop forever it seems like).  Anyway, I was fixing up some of my build links and art that had broken from the move and I'd say that my Knight Priest of the Tenth Eye build was my favorite to come through the Workshop.  All but one of my builds has come through the shop during it's creation and crafting but the cleric build was one that I remember garnered a good bit of attention and comments in the Shop (which was enough to make that stand out) but I got a lot of input on that one too.  I even commented in the build itself that many of those comments and ideas actually tweaked the build a lot and made it much better than it would have been just for what I had going into it.  Definitely a teamwork build there from an idea and creativity point of view.

I was going through the list of WSS that was archived and sadly all those articles appear to be lost to the sands of time as none of them work anymore.  There was The Father by Motty that I have good recollections of and really stood out to me in doing that WSS review of it.  However, I can't find it on his profile page so not sure if it got deleted in the move or not.  Need to repost that one Motty!

Hmm, I must've missed your other Event Build John, I'll go hunt that one down but both your other Fallout Builds were excellent. Oh I remember the Knight Priest of the Tenth Eye, that was one of your fairly early builds wasn't it? I remember you doing a bit of an overhaul on that one, I don't know if I'm misremembering (I do that fairly often) but yeah it was definitely a cool build, I loved the fact that it's pretty much the only build to use, whatever that spell was...It's not in my brain right now but I know what it was, the name knows what spell it was and you do so heh, we'll leave it there I guess.

Yeah, I was originally meaning to revamp the WSS thread but, actually I don't remember why I did. It probably is just that I doubted my odds of finding most of the articles (since they weren't tagged, posted by...three people? I remember Manik posting one but I could be wrong there) but yeah that's essentially why I ended up stopping production. Legion posted a link to The Father a page or two (maybe three?) back if you wanted to go take a look at it.

    Thanks for dropping by John.

So double update today, I had a bit of a shit day yesterday so my apologies for not being on that often. Ah at the moment Phil's in the lead at 77 points (yep you heard it right, seventy, fucking seven) with Ragin Cajun coming in at 48 points followed quickly by Relycs at 46 and then Liss and Zonnonn at 38 a piece. So at the moment, we're looking at 5 people in the running but a few days ago neither John or Zonn were anywhere near the top and now they've both been in the top three for a bit, so it isn't impossible to catch up.

Now there's going to be a Flash Event but I'll post that separately.

Alright, now I really want to focus on encouraging comments for a little bit, I admit that I was surprised when we only had a few people who were racking up points via leaving comments because it's something that you can do at any time rather than a large project (I mean, even disregarding Sotek and I we've had 5 completed pieces of work, 11 different pieces of content that have been posted and people have earned over 100 extra points through flash events.

Anyway, so from today until...let's say the 19th, all comments made by people who currently have less than 20 points from comments will be worth three times as many points (so 6 each). If you have over 20 points, you can still get 3 points per comment which isn't quite the same I know but this is supposed to be a way for people to have a better chance at competing not a chance for Phil to hit 200 points by Wednesday :P

Oh, and for anyone who has noticed, this will not boost points gained for the week long Fallout Double Week. I am not giving out 12 points for comments unless it involves something pretty spectacular (like using 33 key words that I choose and doing it all in limerick form :P)

I've fell behind over the last few days due to work comitments and such. Got to getback in my game here..... the next few days for me will be critical...

  • August 16, 2017

Heh, blast, I definitely won't be catching up now Sotek, just ran out of stuff to make really. Still, good to see you dropping more chapters in Sotek :D

Oh and the new score is Phil at 90, Ragin Cajun  (John) at 66 and Relycs at 46 for anyone interested.

So it might not seem like the coolest thing but I wanted to give props to three members, well actually there are 15 members that have participated in Workshop activity over the last few days and together you've all managed to post 63 comments, 10 different builds (and a short story), 4 pieces of other content and have completed a total of 6 different pieces of content. That isn't including three people (Sotek, myself and Karver or Lorc of Flowers)

Just wanted to thank you all for your participation so far even if you either didn't mean to participate or aren't trying to win. Regardless, activity in the Workshop is always great to see and to see so much of it lately has just been really awesome.

Anyway, there are three people I wanted to give an extra shout out to, and those are.

Phil (PAWS) who managed to be the first member who's participating who's managed more than 100 points and currently has 42 points from commenting alone (In other words that's 21 comments) putting him in second place.

Second is John for having the highest participation in special, or flash events so far. He's managed 42 points from that through a combination of joining in on discussions, participating in Fallout Week and the flash event for triple commenting.

The final person is Sotek, who's just hit 250 points which is just astounding

Welp time to get in on this thing proper. I don't really care that much since I've missed half the month already, but any encouragement to post in the workshop is good for me to get off my lazy behind and do stuff.
