Hey guys, Reading the earlier posts on good old Sheogorath, I got to thinking. This is very much a matter of personal stories and whatnot, but in your opinion, did the Champion of Cyrodiil fully become Sheogorath? Or did he/she retain elements of their former lives? I lean towards the latter, seeing as how Sheo is trying to *cure* Pelagius in Skyrim, rather than worsen his madness. Of course, could just be a zany scheme to drive the Dragonborn nuts. I'd just like the opinions of you all on this. Thoughts?

CoC mantled Sheogorath, which means CoC became Sheogorat, with all perks included. Also, Sheogorath is known for being...chaotic. When Sheogorath reaches a bridge he might cross it, he might turn around and walk back from where he came from, he might jump from the bridge or he might tear the bridge down. You never know when Sheo´s going to harm you or help you.

Karver the Lorc said: The way I see it this isn't exactly Lore but gameplay. If I were in your place I would make every single NPC unique, give them different skills. I wouldn't really bother myself with what Bethesda made them if I want them to be something else. Plus, they appear in game, not in books. Which means that their Lore is pretty much nonexistent. Don't overthink this, mate. Just make them what you want them to be.

Thanks Karver.  I try to stay true to the spirit in my builds and while I rarely do anything seriously "lore-sensitive" I did have one build and was hammered on it pretty hard so I wanted to at least make an effort to be in line, lore-wise, if you guys felt I needed to be so much appreciated for your input and that gives me some more creative freedom.

True, true. Hey, a thought just occured to me. We know that a Daedric Prince doesn't necesarily have to be a Daedra at first- look at Meridia. Is it possible that Sheogorath always has been a mortal? And, therefore, so has Jyggalag, who actually dies every time a new Sheogorath is made at the ends of Graymarches? And druing the Marches, Jyggalag posseses the current Sheogorath to regain a physical form for a time?  Would also mean his comment that his title gets passed down from him to him would mean more than random ramblings. Damn, my head hurts now...

    Well...

“Nonetheless, the Master has given me the task of answering these questions, so I shall duly answer them. In my experience, Daedric Princes are much like cheese: some of them are hard, some of them are soft, and some of them have blue veins running through their substance. Thus: Jyggalag.

“And if we are nothing but characters in an elaborate game played by unknown entities, well, why aren't I having any fun?"

    Another:

I am a Vestige, all that remains of a mortal from your world who 'mantled' Sheogorath during an event in a previous time. As a fragment, my memory of the event is … fragmentary. I am hazy on the entire concept of 'mantling,' but it had something to do with Lord Sheogorath, myself, and this Jyggalag of whom you speak. I have asked the Mad God to explain it to me, but he just laughs and says maybe he'll tell me about it 'next year,' whatever that means.

“Sometimes the Master irritates even me. I can't remember why I put up with it, actually."

All this is from Chamberlain Haskill Answers Your Questions

Me and Phil argued about all this mantling some time ago. The point is that original Sheogorath was Et´Ada, probably of Daedric nature (Not Ancestor), but throughout the history, he´s been mantled by multiple mortals. Haskill says that he is a Vestige, a fragment, of a mortal who mantled Sheogorath.

If you played Shivering Isles, do you remember Manics and Demented? I think it was Manics who believed that Sheogorath is false ruler or something, that Arden Sul is the true one. Well...my theory is that Arden Sul mantled Sheogorath, became Sheogorath. I can´t really say when, because...Greymarches happen always at the end of an Era right? So, could be that Arden-Sul mantled Sheogorath between 2nd and 3rd Era.

Which implies that at the end of each Era, there is a Greymarch. There is a new Sheogorath. And Jyggalag is never gone.

    MIND-FUCK! :D

Oho! I'd forgotten about the Haskill interview. Interesting! One has to wonder if the Graymarch is the only time Sheogorath gets mantled, or if there's other times where it happens and nobody is the wiser. And if so, just how many have assumed the mantle of the Madgod over the eras?  Very much a mind-fuck!

Exactly these questions! Don´t have the answers for I don´t really dare to go down that rabbit hole :D

Just curious about one thing. How prevalent do you think is the old faith in Alinor now? Or let´s say during 3E in Summerset?

And by old faith I mean the original elven Eight Divines. Trinimac, Syrabane, Xarxes, Mara, Magnus, Y´ffre, Anu/Auri-El, Stendarr.

Warrior´s Blade, The Apprentice God, The Escriven Tome, The Heart of Love, The Gifts of Magnus, Bones of the Forest, Coils of the Father, The Sounding Horn

Doesn't Sheo say in Skyrim that he gets mantled every couple of hundred years or so?

I imagine the Altmer religion is pretty much the same since they broke away from the Psijic Old Way.

I was wondering. Did any group or faction take up automaton building after the disappearance of Dwemers?
