Question on scrapping junk...
when you go to the bench and drop all your junk by hitting "T" (on PC) then the items show up in your junk inventory. Now...when I go to build something, say a bed or a wall...the game will auto-breakdown the items for the materials needed. My question is: Say it breaks down an item that would break down into three things (Gear, Spring, Steel...just for example); and you only need the Spring for your building, does it add the Gear and Steel back into your junk pile or do you lose that?

If you want to get really crazy, you can use the contraptions dlc and scavenging stations to create an auto salvage / recycle facility (not kidding) that breaks down your junk for you.

OK, so I've built a small conveyor line (fun). I've put items in each hopper but I'm confused. It does not break the items down into it's respective components? So how is this any better than the basic workbench to store junk?

I was kidding tbh...I haven't look at contraptions in months. But if memory serves me correct, there's a MOD that puts a HOPPER onto your workbench...or something. There some connection you have to have to make the whole thing work. But, hoenstly, you don't need any of it. Building out of just storing your crap in the bench works fine.

Well heck. I spent money on that thinking it was functional...lol. Just kidding. Wish it would cut down the components though. Off to look for that mod.
