So starting to look at mods.  I got a pop up with NMM saying I need to follow some special steps for mods to work in Fallout.  True or not?  Never had to do that in other games.

I have no knowledge of that...you're on PC, right?

I'm on Ps4...we just get a generic warning "mods might make this game run like crap"

    Yes, on PC.

Curious...what is the "normal" attainable level for a Fallout build?  For example I know in Skyrim we try to cap at level 40 so it's not a "take every perk" situation.

In my experience further iterations of base perks only improve effects. You also level a lot easier in Fallout 4 than in Skyrim. In my opinion as long as you can perform the main things your build is based on in the first 15 -20 levels, you shouldn't worry about accepted level cap.

Good question John. TBH we never set a level cap for builds, manly due to what Noodles has pointed out. The only thing I'd add is that certain builds require levels of perks that also require a character level. For example, if you want to command an NPC using the Charisma perk Intimidation, you'd need to at least suggest a level 50 character cap. But even that isn't a hard and fast posting requirement for the CB group. More like, a worth noting in the write up. Does that make sense?

The different ranks of Intimidation ca be perked at 1, 23 and 50. At rank 1 you can only pacify. At rank 2 you can pacify and then incite to attack hostile npcs from close range. At rank 3 close range becomes long range. While rank 2 adds an awesome feature to rank 1, rank 3 just improves rank 2.

How do you use stuff that you store in the workshop/warehouse?  Not junk mats but things like tables and TVs.  When I click on them in V mode (workshop) they give me a "Store" option.  How do I get them back out later if/when I need them?  Or...is this just like scrapping except they are whole and will get scrapped as needed?

If you store things like that - if and when you want to place them back in the settlement again, you'd notice there is no xp gained, because it's simply dropping it from your workshop inventory. So, if you scrap a couch...you'll get cloth. But if you store it, it will be there to place down again without material cost.

Also, it won't be automatically broken down into material if you build, say a bed or something that needs cloth, so long as you've stored it.

The only uselful feature here is, say you build a bunch of generators in Sanctuary in one location, but then change you mind and build a whole new structure across town. You could store the generators, instead of manually moving them (or scrapping them for less than they cost to build).

What's your thoughts on fast travel?

For clarification: I read an article about how much you might miss (read about it Here).  But then I thought about how long it might take between runs and to get to a drop off point for junk and gear.  So what about a modified fast travel...slow travel until you are junk filled.  Fast travel back to drop off then fast return to the same point and pick up the game again.

Here's a problem (possibly)...so address this if you know the answer...

Let's say I clear a place out (I did this at the Starlight Drive Inn for example).  But I had not gotten the quest from the Minutemen to clear it up to set it up.  When I returned to Sanctuary I didn't get the prompt (although I may not have reached that yet...just got the car plant quest).

For fast travel - I've tried a couple different things. Your modified plan is pretty cool and reduces the risk of missing chance encounters etc.

My general thoughts are play whatever feels good for you, but at least ONCE, play Survival Mode...which limits Fast travel. Then you get to experience a "real" playthrough.

I fast travel a lot, but also, because I've played so much, I have been wandering a lot more and discovering new places. There's a lot of intrigue to be seen beyond quest markers....same as skyrim.

Now, as for the other issue. If you join the MM, but you've already cleared an area, sometimes you'll check back in w Preston and you'll get a quest completion (for example, with Finch farm or Abernathy farm) becaause they have mini-quests of their own. But, with a place like the Drive in, there's no independent quest, so while it is now part of your claimed settlements, you might not got XP for it from Preston.

Hey need some help..I've also posted on some forums but figured I'd ask here..(not sure why it highlighted here, it was a copy/paste from another forum)

So I went to Nick's office and met Ellie. She told me Nick was missing and I got the quest to rescue him. Strangely, he was standing in the back room of the Agency right then but I couldn't interact with him; he just kept saying "This isn't the place underground and surrounded".

So I went to the quest location (with no marker as it pointed at the Agency where Nick was. I went to the Vault and there was Nick. I rescued him, got him out and used the "Meet you back at the Agency" answer. Fast traveled back, and Nick's now seated at the desk.

The quest did advance to "Getting a Clue" but still shows to return to the agency. Nick, when I speak to him, says to talk to Ellie. I talk to her in the back room and she gives me some generic replies about "Glad Nick's Back" and "Him being a synth doesn't bother me". Nick then advances to "Talk to Ellie, she handles the business". She won't tell me anything else and I've no idea how to get past this quest wall.

    Any ideas?
