Lore Article: The Importance of Talos

Well, there are examples in our own world. Janus in Roman mythology and of course the God of the Old Testament versus God of the New testament in Christianity. When developers or writers work on creating fantasy worlds and things like that, they often draw on mythology from our own species. Tolkien looks at Norse mythology to create Middle Earth's stuff. Narnia is chock-full of Christian imagery and concepts. Frank Herbert with Paul as a sort of Messiah. They even call him one.

I don't know who the first split personality god in ES is for sure, for sure, but I see that this can exist in other mediums, so why not in the ES universe? I'm just saying its a possibility. I mean, we're already combining what, almost three entities into Talos? I lost count.  Who's to say that this stuff hasn't happened before?

Maybe it should be as weird as Oblivion.

Seeing the "I" is the beginning, not the end. It's just that so few see the "I". What you do after you see "I" is also important.

IMHO they are showing you how to be  iPhone 7, Windows 10, Office 2016...

Split personality? Hm. Malacath/Trinimac. I think you´re much closer than you think, Lissette. I need to think about this. I have a theory brewing in my head right now. This will go into my discussion about Mauloch for sure.

A new Dream you mean? Amaranth? But doesn't that mean that the current Dream kinda reached it's peak? No way you go further except the new one?

(I personally think that even that is not the end, but you probbly already think I'm nuts)

Uh... I still hope that TES universe isn't a copy from some religion of the RL. Maybe, just maybe they'd come up with something else...

I know that my world wiew is weird, but for me humanized gods are unbelievable. And in most of those mythologies they are just that way. I believe tht gods should be beyond human views and values, otherwise they are just cartoon superheroes.

Thus, I believe that what seems like split personslities to people isn't really the case, because gods may have goals that humans don't quite get. That's why it seems strange that an "elven" god suddenly sides with humans. The thing is that everyone only sees their own part of the picture, but a god's part is supposed to be more than a mortal's. The only one ho sees the whole is the Dreamer, and I suspect that the whole purpose of the Dream is to see beyond.

By the way, where is Talos in "Shor son of Shor"? Or does this text not take him into account?

Both dlc have characters in them that failed and are imprisoned sort of by their inability to move further. Vyrthur because of his pity party and Miraak because he's so hell-bent on escaping. TLD kills them both. Heaven through violence.

Add to this that TLD kills Miraak at the summit of Apocrypha (which looks like a tower), and Vyrthur at the highest point in the Forgotten Vale (interesting name given the discussion, no?).

And Dragons "Touch the Sky" literally with their flight and you sort of ascend into Aetherius (Sovngarde) to defeat Alduiin. Lots of yummy things happen to TLD.

Yep, the several tower references has not escaped me. I play with Towers a lot.

And the quest "Touching he Sky" is where you go to Forgotten Vale...

    Uh huh, that's right.
