When creating a new character, I always struggle with one aspect (I try to use Vix's background question list)
I can never think of any quirks, ticks or habits; so I'd like to hear yours just to get some inspiration (I'm gonna steal your marvelous ideas muahaha )

Thanks! I just realised I do quite some of those already haha I always take off my helmet, and I play with realism mods (food, thirst, sleep). The only other one I usually remember of is my taste for hoarding books

One orc character I have grew up in a castle in Cyrodiil. When appearing before a Jarl, he changes into fine clothes and fancy jewelry. When traveling with a fellow orc, he makes them wait outside the castle so they don't make fun of his "girly clothes" and "flowery talk"

My most colorful character is, by far, my Nord, Brearth. I often refer to him as an "ambush predator", since I tend to sneak up on his targets to close as much of the distance between them as possible while undetected before charging in with his shield and war axe. He also has a massive alpha male ego, so he is compelled to fight any predator he sees, especially bears (because he was designed to be so much like one). He also never carries anything on him that he doesn't need, which, until he found that running into Draugr Death Lords was going to be a common thing, included more than one weapon, and this same idea causes him to stash his gold in hidden places around Skyrim. He also travels exclusively by foot, as he has a phobia of horses.
My Orc Legate, Burzadreg, cares so strongly for his comrades that he goes out of his way to recycle the weapons and armor of fallen Legion troops back into service by repairing them via his smithing skills and selling them to the Legion blacksmith in Solitude. He also wears a different set of armor depending on what he's doing. For example: If he were out hunting bandits/Stormcloaks he would wear his Legion armor, while he would wear Dragonplate if he were hunting dragons (during dragons hunts he always brings the Blades that he recruited and has Esbern say the dragon hunting prayer for him).

Hearthfire:
Edit: Some might not be habit or quirks, sorry I was carried away.

quirks are always my favorite to come up with. My favorite so far is a synesthetic character (google it), but to more of an extreme. For instance, my shy mage, Raenil, can't use darker magicks (soul gems)because she can hear the souls inside the gems/feel them trying to claw their way out when she touches them. It's a bit weird, but it's fun from a role-play perspective. Another habit I use a lot is a character who always picks lavender because her mom always used a lavender perfume and she misses home.
