Let's Build: a Pure Mage. Part II - Vampirism or Lycanthropy?

Yes although it only worked for the amulets of the divines. I was not aware it applied to destruction staves as well.

It works for pretty much anything. There was a build here at one point which stacked Miraak's robes, ebony mail and another chest piece to gain all their effects.

Alastor's Nethermancer uses armor stacking, and my Flintfang uses staff wielding.

Ben C's "Fifth Wall", I believe.

Vampirism has too many drawbacks, and Beast form is just annoying to get on a mage. I tried a Vampire mage before, and the stat regen debuff is super irritating.

If I know Paul England as a builder, I can say with certainty complex exploits and mechanics aren't really his thing. I feel a good pure mate wouldn't need to invest in equipment stacking. Both forms, particularly the vampire, provide significant advantages.

Hmm - very good point, and worth an edit, I think.

Yes, I tend to shy away from intricate mechanical stuff, especially when it seems to be using the engine in an unintentional way.  I *can* imagine a pure mage being a "power-gamer" himself, in the TES universe, since why not?  So for those who want to RP their mages as power-hungry obsessives who want to crack open the rules of reality, I say there's definitely room to do so!  Just isn't my thing. :)

That's my thinking, although my experience with them is very limited.  I'm not sure if the sun spells can be boosted in the same way fire spells can due to the 'afterburn' effect.

    Good ol' Elsweyr Fondue!

I'm glad you bring this up, because there are a lot of ways to accomplish the same (or similar) thing in Skyrim, and I don't always remember every possible avenue.
