Jace Beleren
"Why fight the body when you can dominate the mind that controls it?"
- Jace Beleren.
~ Introduction ~
Jace wields blue mental magic: spells of illusion, deception, and mind reading. With nearly unlimited access to knowledge comes the temptation of power … Curiosity has always gotten the better of Jace Beleren. As a magical prodigy, he delved into lessons of sorcery deeper than his fellow students, succeeding to the point that even his instructors were suspicious. As a specialist in mind magic, he can gaze into the minds of others, discovering even closely guarded secrets. This has led him down dangerous paths more than once, and as a Planeswalker, there’s a whole multiverse of secrets to discover. His skills in illusion, mind reading, and even memory modification have flourished during his travels, giving him ever broader access to the hidden knowledge he craves.

Being a Magic: The Gathering fan, Jace Beleren has hands down always been one of my favorites. While playing the XBOX 360 version of Duel of the Planeswalkers, I noticed the type of mindset Jace often has. I started really trying to figure out how to transfer that into a character in Skyrim. If you're like me, you want to get immersed into the roleplaying. You don't want to take the time leveling up, slowing gaining spells, until you've pretty much beat the game without even achieving playing like the actual character you set out to be. Because of this build relying so heavily on the ROLEPLAYING, this build is almost exclusively for PC. I apologize to the console users, but being able to take 5 minutes right from the start and setup your character, so you don't have to do all the grinding and can just jump right into roleplaying, definitely has it's advantages.
REQUIREMENTS:
DRAGONBORN DLC
DRAGON BORN ROBES MOD by bl3azy
CONJURE ANCIENT DRAGONBORN/SPECTRAL DRAGON by Amenrab
~ The Build ~
Race: Breton - for several reasons:
If you use the RaceMenu by Expired you can actually get your character to look pretty close.
Stats: Magicka 4 Health 1 Stamina 0
You want to build up your Magicka levels rather quickly due to the amount of spells you'll be casting.
Standing Stone: The Lord
Adding any AR to your character when NOT wearing armor helps tremendously, plus the 25% magic resistance comes into play with this build which is explained later.
Major Skills: Illusion, Conjuration, Restoration
Minor Skills: Alteration, Destruction, Enchanting
Equipment:
Dragon Born Robes: The mod is where you will (obviously) get your robes from. Again, this is about roleplaying and this is the closest out there to Jace's robes.
Mage's Boots: Again, you're wanting to stay unarmored to get the doubling benefit from your flesh spells.
Enchanted Ring/Necklace: Enchanted for magicka absorption, and resistance as stated above.
Perks:
Level 55 perk distribution ...
~ Quests ~
~ Shouts ~
Become Ethereal - You have learned to become an illusion yourself.
Bend Will - You control the minds of even the dragons, forcing them to do your bidding.
Disarm - Your reputation alone causes your enemies to drop their weapons in fear.
Dismay - Your enemies flee in fear.
Dragonrend – Even the dragons bend to your will.
Slow Time - Even time itself bends at your command.
Storm Call - Flood the earth and rid Tamriel of your enemies.
Whirlwind Sprint – As an illusion disappears in the wind, so to do you.
~ Gameplay ~
You are a master illusionist. You fight when, where, and if you choose to. Utilize all the tricks at your disposal to take out your enemies before they even realized you were a threat.
Use your fury spells to turn your enemies on each other, letting them thin themselves out, before conjuring up some illusionary creatures to finish them off.
If the time comes when the enemy gets close, use your flesh spells to increase your armor rating, then turn on them with blizzard or ice wall.
Think like a Planeswalker. Use wards as "counter spells" to nullify enemy magic attacks. Use subterfuge to create fear or trust, and make your enemies not want to fight. You're one of the good guys, and should only engage those that you have no choice.
You are a Planeswalker. You are Jace Beleren. You are the ultimate illusionist.
~ Special Abilities/MTG Comparisons ~
Phantom Beast
Conjure Familiar
In MTG, you start with low cost, expendable creatures. Such is true when gaining levels in Skyrim. Conjure Familiar acts much the same way as Phantasmal Bear does in MTG.
Phantom Warrior
Summon Ancient Dragonborn
Unfortunately, you either have to use the mod, or use the cheat code psb in order to use this spell. So turn 1 you played your Phantasmal Bear. Now you cast your Phantom Warrior to really turn up the heat.
Phantasmal Dragon
Summon Spectral Dragon
Again you have to either use the mod or the cheat code. After casting your Phantasmal Bear and Phantom Warrior, now it's time to start thinking end game. Cast your Phantasmal Dragon and finish them off.
Vapor Snag
Storm Call + Blizzard
Drawing from the blue mana of water, unleash a torrent of rain, ice, and snow. Remind your enemies who they are dealing with.
~ Roleplay ~
You are all that is left. You are all that can stop the "Eater of Worlds" from destroying another plane. You. Must. Stop. Nicol Bolas. Ajani's death still haunts you, as one by one you've watched Nicol Bolas kill Planeswalker after Planeswalker. Destroy world after world. You can no longer wait for the one that can stop Nicol Bolas from total destruction. Now, you must become that one.
You have followed Nicol Bolas, from Ravnica, to the Plane of Tamriel. Ambushed in the night, you found yourself bound and gagged in the back of a primitive cart. Bidding your time, you travel to Helgen, hoping to learn as much about the inhabitants of this plane as you can. A civil war consumes most of this land, but that's not your concern. You're here for only one reason. And that's when he attacks. Like a demon rising amidst the chaos, Nicol Bolas attacks. He lays waste to everything around you. The inhabitants of Tamriel fight back, as you rush for cover from the falling debris. Weakened from your travel to this plane, you must find the resources to defeat Nicol Bolas once and for all. You must find yourself again, become the mind sculptor you once were. And defeat evil forever.
