Turns out we're both missing something.
According to UESP, in the vanilla game, stage four vampires have 100% fire resistance and frost weakness, but with Dawnguard installed, it becomes 50% instead. Time to go fix that.

Yeah, the Selenu has some pretty terrible magicka regeneration in the daytime; I used the Staff of Magnus to help out with that. I would've gone with the Ring of the Erudite but I was already using that for a self-enchanted ring.
Yeah, I fixed the part about resistances in the vanilla game. Dawguard does change the fire/frost weakness/resistance values to 50% though.
I generally tend not to mess around too much with special moves because I usually find them to be fairly tacked on, but I might try experimenting some more with them later.
