Backstory
When the Great War happened, the researchers based in Antarctica knew what was happening and thought it was best for them to stay in Antarctica, where the radiation was less likely to effect them than anywhere else on Earth due to the fact that Antarctica was far from the location of any major nuclear target. For 200 years the descendants of the researchers thrived, surviving off of the animals native to Antarctica. After that much time passed, very few people remembered anything of the outside world, or of what it had become. But when a traveler from a distant land appeared, telling of a world full of flora and fauna, the elders decided it was time to send people out into the wasteland to start anew. And when they made that announcement, they said that they had chosen the first person to send out into the wasteland: Simon Nevidu. He was allowed to pack anything he wanted, they said, but they gave a warning: He was only allowed to return once, and after that he would never again go back to Antarctica. After that, he packed his bags and sailed with the traveler to the place he came from- the Mojave Wasteland.
When they emerged on land after the 3-month journey in the small boat, Simon was surprised to find the Mojave was just as the traveler described it. After asking the traveler where a good place to go would be, he pointed him to the Mojave Express, and after saying goodbye that was where he went. He managed to get a job there as a Courier, and worked for 4 years traveling across the United States, delivering packages. He went to Utah, California, Texas, New Vegas, Kansas, Arkansas, Colorado, and Oregon. And during his 3rd year, he started a community with his friend Ullyses, another Courier, but ended up destroying it by accident with a nuclear missile detonator, killing Ullyses. Then, when he was delivering a package to Mr. House in New Vegas, he was ambushed by the Great Khans and shot in the head. The package was taken, and he was left to die. But then, a robot carried him out of the grave and took him to a doctor. After a miraculous recovery, he had no memory of the package, Ullyses, Antarctica, or even his family. From then on out, he vowed to get revenge and find out who he was before he lost his memory. No matter what.
