Sload Soap

“It is believed that the Sload use this soap as a primary component in their necromantic rituals. I'm no expert on necromancy, but apparently having an emulsified reagent concocted from one's own descendants acts as profound intensifier in the magic of undeath."

Sload, grotesque Lovecraftian horrors who revere even more abominable and disgusting beings called Elder Distended Ones. They are known for releasing the Thrassian Plague in the First Era and for their Necromantic practices.

    The Plague

The Thrassian Plague, known to the people of the time as the "Slug Famine", was a biological weapon released upon Tamriel in 1E2200/2260. Whether this flesh-eating disease was the Sload's own mutated and infantile lavae or the result of a bargain struck between the Daedra-Worshipping Sload and the Daedric Princes Namira or Peryite is a matter of debate. The sorcerer-turned-sorceress Altmer hero-godess Syrabane, with the help of Baron-Admiral of the All Flags Navy, Bendu Olo, defeated the Sload through judicious use of her magical ring, The Warlock's Ring.

    Slavers and Necromancers

The black art of necromancy is so prevalent in Sload society that these foul creatures reanimate slaughtered sea creatures, such as turtles or crabs, to keep as pets. Slavery is frequent too, as is reanimating killed slaves to keep them in service even after death. The practice of slavery also served another, perhaps fouler, purpose. It is said the Sload spent years grooming and cultivating slaves to perform religious ceremonies in which they would re-enact the deeds of mythological heroes and villains. These ceremonies could last for weeks but would always culminate in the death of the participants by the application of “desiccation crystals" to the body.

    The Sload

Described by Bendu Olo as "Morally Repugnant: Every Sload individual encountered has been a grasping, callous, godless, self-loving schemer. They do not seem to experience or display any familiar human emotions, though they are skilled diplomats and actors, and produce gross, exaggerated parodies of human behavior [laughter at lame jokes, weeping at apparent misfortunes, furious tirades at folly or ineptitude]. They have no compunctions about blasphemy, theft, torture, kidnapping, murder, or genocide."

The Sload are also cautious, magically adept, corpulent and thoroughly repugnant.  Several inches of slime-coat water upon the floors of any land-based building, and they eat various molds and fungi served as food. It is rare to see a Slaod on land as older adults collapse under their own weight unless buoyed by water. Therefore any dealings with these beings is likely to be done through slaves, groomed and obedient agents of this terrible race.

Wow, these guys put the word 'necromancer' to a whole new level.

Speaking of which, if the Sloads are masters of necromancy, then who was the first to practice them? I know Mannimarco introduced necromancy but did he had help from the Sloads to master it?

    How did I miss this!?

  • June 6, 2016

Why? Does it have something you could have used?

No. I just scoured the internet for all the lore I could find and somehow missed this until now. It's like searching your house over for your sunglasses only to discover they've been on your head the whole time.

Ha, yeah, that's happened to me too.
