  I've never bought a house because all I would have to do is join the College to get a chest, alchemy lab, enchanting table and bed. You could also fast travel to Whiterun to get all the smithing crafting items. It only costs thirty gold worst case to get to your room. Also, using the College as your house gives you conveniently placed master spell trainers. Does anyone else share my opinion?
