Playing Skyrim again, I was traveling on my way to solitude when I noticed something familiar. The lodge of where my favorite dog companion, Meeko lives. It got me thinking, out of the few dog companions there are, this one seems to be my favorite. I can't really prove the difference in the dogs but somehow, I've always had my best Skyrim experiences with Meeko than the others.

So which is your favorite dog and why? what Skyrim experience have you had that best comes to memory? are you even a dog person? Let's talk about the dogs in Skyrim

    And yes, Barbas counts

Haha, sweet topic! I'm that kind of player who'll always prefer the companionship of a dog that any kind of human follower. I didn't like when Lydia tried to do my job fighting dragons, or if I had to wait for her to catch up when I was riding. So when she died, to tell the truth I felt relieved. We were two after that: Nymra (my horse) and me. I decided to never get any more companions until I ran into Meeko. He was so lonely and when I saw his master dead I just couldn't leave him alone. So he joined me and Nymra on our journey. The best thing ever happened in the game. He is tough and brave, the best companion a lonely traveller can get. I like how he makes me feel at home in every house I own. My dog is there, so I'm at home. I usually let him out of the mines and bandit camps, he has a more important job: he takes care of Nmyra outside. And I never forget to throw him a piece of cooked beef when we get home.

I'm totally satisfied how dogs are handled in Skyrim. I liked the dog idea in Fable II and III, and I was excited when I first heard about dogs appearing in Skyrim. Besides horses, they are the nicest addition to this awesome game. And I love the breed choice. Irish wolfhound is tough enough to be up to the hardest battles.

Roughly, where does he hang out?

its southwest between solitude and morthal. you might want to travel along the road and because if you go straight to his cabin he's not there. He's my favorite dog

yeah, I'm a dog person as well. Meeko has always helped me whether it be hunting dear or biting a necromancer in the ass! I like how the dogs are in skyrim. even though they are all the same, they have that happy cute look in their eyes that just makes you love them.

and can the dogs eat the beef?? I've always wondered that...

I guess to be more specific, because it is hard to find his cabin, right below the marshlands

Totally agreed, hehe. However they could add more voices to them. I love how they 'sniff' around.

yeah, they also could have added more skins but I guess there's mods for that. I would have liked a husky or a black lab..

I'm pretty sure I've walked right past the cabin and never realised there was anything there worth checking out

Irish wolfhound is ok for me. However they could have added more breeds, though, or at least more colors. No mods for me, I play on XBox360.  Personally I would like a Bloodhound with long ears...love them. But this is just for nagging, some players would certainly be disgusted if Bethesda added new breeds in a DLC lol.

I have only had a dog once and its for a quest to bring him back to his owner and i didnt like that dog. He barked all the time and he pusched me all the time when i was standing still.

    Are all dogs like that?
